Recombination and biased segregation of mitochondrial genomes during crossing and meiosis of different Schizosaccharomyces pombe strains
Stephan Kamrad,María Rodríguez-López,Shoumit Dey,Mimoza Hoti,Henry Wallace,Markus Ralser,Jürg Bähler +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate mitochondrial inheritance in crosses between natural isolates using tetrad dissection and next-generation sequencing and find that colonies grown from single spores can sometimes carry a mix of mitochondrial genotypes, that mitochondrial genomes can recombine during meiosis, and that in some cases tetrads do not follow the 2:2 segregation pattern.

Cdk9, Spt5 and histone H2B mono-ubiquitylation cooperate to ensure antisense suppression by the Clr6-CII/Rpd3S HDAC complex
Miriam Sansó,Daniel Pinto,Peter Svensson,Viviane Pagé,Pabitra K. Parua,Danny A. Bitton,Jean Mbogning,Patrícia Garcia,Elena Hidalgo,François Robert,Jürg Bähler,Jason C. Tanny,Robert P. Fisher +12 more
TL;DR: Functional genomics revealed both collaborative and antagonistic functions of H2Bub1 and Cdk9, which cooperate to suppress antisense transcription by promoting function of the Clr6-CII histone deacetylase (HDAC) complex.
