Convergent antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 in convalescent individuals.
Davide F. Robbiani,Davide F. Robbiani,Christian Gaebler,Frauke Muecksch,Julio C. C. Lorenzi,Zijun Wang,Alice Cho,Marianna Agudelo,Christopher O. Barnes,Anna Gazumyan,Shlomo Finkin,Thomas Hagglof,Thiago Y. Oliveira,Charlotte Viant,Arlene Hurley,Hans Heinrich Hoffmann,Katrina G. Millard,Rhonda G. Kost,Melissa Cipolla,Kristie Gordon,Filippo Bianchini,Spencer T. Chen,Victor A. Ramos,Roshni Patel,Juan Dizon,Irina Shimeliovich,Pilar Mendoza,Harald Hartweger,Lilian Nogueira,Maggi Pack,Jill Horowitz,Fabian Schmidt,Yiska Weisblum,Eleftherios Michailidis,Alison W. Ashbrook,Eric Waltari,John E. Pak,Kathryn E. Huey-Tubman,Nicholas Koranda,Pauline R. Hoffman,Anthony P. West,Charles M. Rice,Theodora Hatziioannou,Pamela J. Bjorkman,Paul D. Bieniasz,Paul D. Bieniasz,Marina Caskey,Michel C. Nussenzweig,Michel C. Nussenzweig +48 more
TL;DR: Most convalescent plasma samples obtained from individuals who recover from COVID-19 do not contain high levels of neutralizing activity, and rare but recurring RBD-specific antibodies with potent antiviral activity were found in all individuals tested, suggesting that a vaccine designed to elicit such antibodies could be broadly effective.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distinct roles of IL-12 and IL-15 in human natural killer cell activation by dendritic cells from secondary lymphoid organs.
Guido Ferlazzo,Maggi Pack,Dolca Thomas,Casper Paludan,Dorothee Schmid,Till Strowig,Gwenola Bougras,William A. Muller,Lorenzo Moretta,Christian Münz +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the capacity of Dendritic cells to interact with NK cells in human lymphoid organs and identify the role of specific DC-derived cytokines was identified. And they demonstrated that DCs colocalize with NKs in the T cell areas of lymph nodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbial stimulation fully differentiates monocytes to DC-SIGN/CD209+ dendritic cells for immune T cell areas
Cheolho Cheong,Ines Matos,Jae-Hoon Choi,Durga Bhavani Dandamudi,Elina Shrestha,M. Paula Longhi,Kate L. Jeffrey,Robert M. Anthony,Courtney Kluger,Godwin Nchinda,Hyein Koh,Anthony Rodriguez,Juliana Idoyaga,Maggi Pack,Klara Velinzon,Chae Gyu Park,Ralph M. Steinman +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that fully differentiated monocyte-derived DCs (Mo-DCs) develop in mice and DC-SIGN/CD209a marks the cells, and the blood monocyte reservoir becomes the dominant presenting cell in response to select microbes, yielding DC- SIGN(+) cells with critical functions of DCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sustained expansion of NKT cells and antigen-specific T cells after injection of α-galactosyl-ceramide loaded mature dendritic cells in cancer patients
David H. Chang,Keren Osman,John Connolly,Anjli Kukreja,Joseph Krasovsky,Maggi Pack,Aisha Hutchinson,Matthew D. Geller,Nancy Liu,Rebecca Annable,Jennifer Shay,Kelly Kirchhoff,Nobusuke Nishi,Yoshitaka Ando,Kunihiko Hayashi,Hani Hassoun,Ralph M. Steinman,Madhav V. Dhodapkar,Madhav V. Dhodapkar +18 more
TL;DR: The feasibility of sustained expansion of NKT cells in vivo in humans, including patients who have advanced cancer, is demonstrated and it is suggested that NKT activation might help to boost adaptive T cell immunity in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
The C-type lectin SIGN-R1 mediates uptake of the capsular polysaccharide of Streptococcus pneumoniae in the marginal zone of mouse spleen
Young-Sun Kang,Jae Y. Kim,Sandra A. Bruening,Maggi Pack,Anna Charalambous,Alla Pritsker,Thomas M. Moran,Jutta M. Loeffler,Ralph M. Steinman,Chae Gyu Park +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that encapsulated Streptococcus pneumoniae are rapidly cleared by these macrophages from the bloodstream, and that capture also takes place when different cell lines express SIGN-R1 after transfection.
