TL;DR: Seven new rheumatoid arthritis risk alleles were identified at genome-wide significance (P < 5 × 10−8) in an analysis of all 41,282 samples, and an additional 11 SNPs replicated at P < 0.05, suggesting that most represent genuine rhearatoid arthritisrisk alleles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Implementation of a treat-to-target strategy in very early rheumatoid arthritis: results of the Dutch Rheumatoid Arthritis Monitoring remission induction cohort study.
M. Vermeer,Hillechiena H. Kuper,Monique Hoekstra,Cees J. Haagsma,Marcel D. Posthumus,H.L.M. Brus,Piet L. C. M. van Riel,Mart A F J van de Laar +7 more
TL;DR: The successful implementation of this treat-to-target strategy aiming at remission demonstrated that achieving remission in daily clinical practice is a realistic goal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advanced glycation endproducts are increased in rheumatoid arthritis patients with controlled disease
Lodewijk de Groot,Helmy Hinkema,Johanna Westra,Andries J. Smit,Cees G. M. Kallenberg,Marc Bijl,Marcel D. Posthumus +6 more
TL;DR: AGEs were increased in RA patients with long-standing disease and without signs of premature atherosclerosis, and were related to endothelial activation and endothelial dysfunction, which supports the hypothesis that in RA AGEs may be an early marker of cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic Performance and Prognostic Value of Extravascular Retention of 123I-Labeled Serum Amyloid P Component in Systemic Amyloidosis
Bouke P. C. Hazenberg,Martin H. Van Rijswijk,Marjolijn N. Lub-de Hooge,Edo Vellenga,Elizabeth B. Haagsma,Marcel D. Posthumus,Pieter L. Jager +6 more
TL;DR: Quantification of SAP retention using the EVR24 has no additional value over 123I-SAP scintigraphy in the detection of systemic amyloidosis and might serve as an indicator of the body isyloid load.
Journal ArticleDOI
