TL;DR: The immunoscore provides a reliable estimate of the risk of recurrence in patients with colon cancer and supports the implementation of the consensus Immunoscore as a new component of a TNM-Immune classification of cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
CXCL9, CXCL10, CXCL11/CXCR3 axis for immune activation - A target for novel cancer therapy.
Ryuma Tokunaga,Wu Zhang,Madiha Naseem,Alberto Puccini,Martin D. Berger,Shivani Soni,Michelle McSkane,Hideo Baba,Heinz-Josef Lenz +8 more
TL;DR: The CXCL9, -10, -11/CXCR3 axis regulates immune cell migration, differentiation, and activation, leading to tumor suppression (paracrine axis), but there are some reports that show involvements of this axis in tumor growth and metastasis (autocrine axis).
Journal ArticleDOI
Somatic POLE proofreading domain mutation, immune response, and prognosis in colorectal cancer: a retrospective, pooled biomarker study

TL;DR: Both POLE mutation and MMR-D were associated with significantly reduced risk of recurrence compared with MMR-P colorectal cancers in multivariable analysis, which underscores the importance of rare biomarkers in precision cancer medicine, but raises important questions about how to identify and implement them in practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outlooks on Epstein-Barr virus associated gastric cancer.
Madiha Naseem,Afsaneh Barzi,Christine Brezden-Masley,Alberto Puccini,Martin D. Berger,Ryuma Tokunaga,Francesca Battaglin,Shivani Soni,Michelle McSkane,Wu Zhang,Heinz-Josef Lenz +10 more
TL;DR: The unique molecular characteristics of EBVaGC, such as programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) overexpression, highlight the potential for using EBV as a biomarker for response to immunotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumour budding in solid cancers
TL;DR: The pathobiological characteristics of this phenomenon are described, including its associations with epithelial–mesenchymal transition and features of the tumour microenvironment, and the evidence demonstrating the value of tumour budding as a prognostic biomarker across various solid cancers is reviewed.
