Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of a new definition for chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in cystic fibrosis patients
TL;DR: The validity and importance of identifying these four subgroups of patients as either 'chronic', 'intermittent', 'free of PA', or 'never infected' is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Using whole-genome analysis of a global collection of clinical isolates, it is shown that the majority of M. abscessus infections are acquired through transmission, potentially via fomites and aerosols, of recently emerged dominant circulating clones that have spread globally.

TL;DR: Results indicate that pmrB gain-of-function mutations can contribute to high-level polymyxin resistance in clinical strains of P. aeruginosa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibiotic treatment of multidrug-resistant organisms in cystic fibrosis.
TL;DR: Multidrug-resistant microorganisms are an important and growing issue in the care of patients with CF and antibiotic treatment planned according to in vitro sensitivity, patient drug tolerance, and results of in vitro studies may direct the physician to antibiotic combinations most likely to succeed.
