Journal ArticleDOI
A genetic risk score is associated with statin-induced low-density lipoprotein cholesterol lowering
Maarten Leusink,Anke H. Maitland-van der Zee,Bo Ding,Fotios Drenos,Fotios Drenos,Erik P A Van Iperen,Helen R. Warren,Mark J. Caulfield,L. Adrienne Cupples,L. Adrienne Cupples,Mary Cushman,Aroon D. Hingorani,Ron C. Hoogeveen,G. Kees Hovingh,Meena Kumari,Leslie A. Lange,Patricia B. Munroe,Fredrik Nyberg,Fredrik Nyberg,Pamela J. Schreiner,Suthesh Sivapalaratnam,Paul I.W. de Bakker,Anthonius de Boer,Brendan J. Keating,Folkert W. Asselbergs,Folkert W. Asselbergs,N. Charlotte Onland-Moret +26 more
TL;DR: The GRS was associated with statin response, but the small effect size (˜2% of the average low-density lipoprotein cholesterol reduction) limits applicability.
Journal ArticleDOI
The INSIG2 rs7566605 polymorphism is not associated with body mass index and breast cancer risk
Daniele Campa,Anika Hüsing,James McKay,Olga M. Sinilnikova,Ulla Vogel,Anne Tjønneland,Kim Overvad,Jakob Stegger,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,Nathalie Chabbert-Buffet,Guy Fagherazzi,Antonia Trichopoulou,Dimosthenis Zylis,Erifili Oustoglou,Sabine Rohrmann,Birgit Teucher,Eva Fisher,Heiner Boeing,Giovanna Masala,Vittorio Krogh,Carlotta Sacerdote,Salvatore Panico,Rosario Tumino,N. Wareham,Kay-Tee Khaw,Sabina Rinaldi,Nadia Slimani,Veronique Chajes,Afshan Siddiq,Elio Riboli,Rudolf Kaaks,Federico Canzian +45 more
TL;DR: This study was not able to find any statistically significant association between this SNP and BMI, nor did it find any significant relationship between the SNP and an increased risk of breast cancer overall and by subgroups of age, or menopausal status.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetically Determined Reproductive Aging and Coronary Heart Disease: A Bidirectional 2-sample Mendelian Randomization
Veerle Dam,N. Charlotte Onland-Moret,Stephen Burgess,María Dolores Chirlaque,Sanne A.E. Peters,Ewoud Schuit,Kaja Tikk,Elisabete Weiderpass,Clare Oliver-Williams,Angela M. TL;DR: Genetically determined reproductive aging is not causally associated with CHD risk (factors) in women, nor were the genetic variants associated in men, according to a bidirectional Mendelian randomization approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Levels of Testosterone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin and Colorectal Cancer Risk: Observational and Mendelian Randomization Analyses.
Niki Dimou,Nagisa Mori,Sophia Harlid,Justin Harbs,Richard M. Martin,Karl Smith-Byrne,Nikos Papadimitriou,D. Timothy Bishop,Graham Casey,Sandra Colorado-Yohar,Michelle Cotterchio,Amanda J. Cross,Loic Le Marchand,Yi Lin,Kenneth Offit,N. Charlotte Onland-Moret,Ulrike Peters,John D. Potter,Thomas E. Rohan,Elisabete Weiderpass,Marc J. Gunter,Neil Murphy +21 more
TL;DR: Hang et al. as mentioned in this paper conducted observational and Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses to elucidate the role of circulating levels of testosterone, and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) in colorectal cancer risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reproductive factors in relation to heart failure in women: A systematic review.
TL;DR: Although some reproductive factors were considered risk factors for heart failure in women, the results were mostly conflicting or inconclusive and further research is needed to confirm and expand the current evidence on the association between reproductive factors and risk of heart failure.
