Journal ArticleDOI
Long-lasting inhibition of in vivo cocaine binding to dopamine transporters by 3β-(4-Iodophenyl)Tropane-2-Carboxylic acid Methyl Ester: RTI-55 or βCIT
Nora D. Volkow,Samuel J. Gatley,Joanna S. Fowler,Ruoyan Chen,Jean Logan,Stephen L. Dewey,Y.-S. Ding,N. Pappas,Payton King,R. R. Mac Gregor,Michael J. Kuhar,Frank I. Carroll,Alfred P. Wolf +12 more
TL;DR: These results document long‐lasting inhibition of cocaine binding by RTI‐55 and corroborate that binding kinetics of RTi‐55 in striatum observed in imaging studies with [123I]RTI‐ 55 represents binding to DATs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct approach for attenuating cocaine's effects on extracellular dopamine: targeting the dopamine transporter.
Alexander E. Morgan,Simone P. Porter,Francis A. Clarkson,Nora D. Volkow,Joanna S. Fowler,Stephen L. Dewey +5 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that RTI‐55, a drug that binds directly to the dopamine transporter (DAT) with higher affinity than cocaine, does not appear to be effective in attenuating cocaine's effects on NACC dopamine levels, and acute RTI-55 potentiates cocaine's effect on N ACC DA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Language network: segregation, laterality and connectivity.
Dardo Tomasi,Nora D. Volkow +1 more
TL;DR: Correlation analyses of functional connectivity data sets from 970 healthy subjects collected in resting conditions at 22 institutions worldwide revealed the striking reproducibility of an extended language network with predominance of short-range connectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of gender difference in regional brain metabolic responses to lorazepam
Gene-Jack Wang,Nora D. Volkow,Nora D. Volkow,Joanna S. Fowler,Robert Hitzemann,Robert Hitzemann,N. Pappas,Noelwah Netusil +7 more
TL;DR: This study does not show differences in the response to lorazepam between the genders as assessed by its behavioral effects and the changes in absolute metabolism; the trend toward a difference in the relative changes in rectal gyrus and cerebellum merits further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroethics for the National Institutes of Health BRAIN Initiative.
Diana W. Bianchi,Judith A. Cooper,Joshua A. Gordon,Jill Heemskerk,Richard J. Hodes,George F. Koob,Walter J. Koroshetz,David B. Shurtleff,Paul A. Sieving,Nora D. Volkow,James D. Churchill,Khara M. Ramos +11 more
TL;DR: The BRAIN Initiative and neuroethics will help scientists and policymakers better understand the role of emotion, emotion-based decision-making, and social determinants of disease in the development of Alzheimer's disease.
