Journal ArticleDOI

Prothrombotic Gene Expression Profile in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells of Human Saphenous Vein, but Not Internal Mammary Artery

TL;DR: Among the genes of the coagulation system, TF and tPA are differentially expressed in VSMCs from IMA versus SV, consistent with protection of IMA from thrombus formation and vascular remodeling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amphetamines induce tissue factor and impair tissue factor pathway inhibitor: role of dopamine receptor type 4.

TL;DR: Amphetamines induce endothelial TF expression via stimulation of dopamine D4 receptor and activation of the MAPKs p38 and ERK and may account for the increased incidence of acute vascular syndromes after amphetamine consumption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endothelin A Receptor Antagonists in Congestive Heart Failure: Blocking the Beast while Leaving the Beauty Untouched?

TL;DR: Results indicate that ET receptor antagonists indeed have a potential to improve hemodynamics, symptoms, and potentially prognosis of CHF which still carries a high mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression and activity patterns of nitric oxide synthases and antioxidant enzymes reveal a substantial heterogeneity between cardiac and vascular aging in the rat.

TL;DR: Changes in the aged myocardium with respect to enzymes crucially involved in maintaining the redox homeostasis, seem to be much less pronounced or even absent compared to the vascular aging process, which may point to heterogeneity in the molecular regulation of the cardiovascular aging process.
