Journal ArticleDOI
Predictive value of the age, creatinine, and ejection fraction (ACEF) score in patients with acute coronary syndromes.
Barbara E. Stähli,Barbara E. Stähli,Barbara E. Stähli,Manfred Wischnewsky,Philipp Jakob,Philipp Jakob,Philipp Jakob,Roland Klingenberg,Slayman Obeid,Dik Heg,Lorenz Räber,Stephan Windecker,Marco Roffi,François Mach,Baris Gencer,David Nanchen,Peter Jüni,Ulf Landmesser,Ulf Landmesser,Ulf Landmesser,Christian M. Matter,Thomas F. Lüscher,Thomas F. Lüscher,Willibald Maier +23 more
TL;DR: The ACEF score is a simple and useful risk stratification tool in patients with ACS referred for coronary revascularization and paralleled the increased ischemic risk across the groups at 1 year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inverse regulation of endothelin-1 and nitric oxide metabolites in tissue with aging: implications for the age-dependent increase of cardiorenal disease.
TL;DR: Investigating whether aging affects endothelin-1 (ET-1) and tissue levels of the nitric oxide metabolites nitrite/nitrate in the kidney of rodents found that activation of the ET pathway with aging may promote the development of age-dependent diseases such as glomerulosclerosis, hypertension and atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
[HIV infection, antiretroviral therapy, and endothelium].
TL;DR: The most substantial database has recently been provided by the D:A:D study group who demonstrated an increased incidence of myocardial infarction in HIV-infected persons on protease inhibitors or non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor-containing therapy in a prospective observational cohort study as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aortic regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: mechanisms and implications.
Barbara E. Stähli,Willibald Maier,Roberto Corti,Thomas F. Lüscher,Rolf Jenni,Felix C. Tanner +5 more
TL;DR: The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the three types of AR after TAVI focussed on the different pathophysiological mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bimodal Effects of Angiotensin II on Migration of Human and Rat Smooth Muscle Cells Direct Stimulation and Indirect Inhibition Via Transforming Growth Factor-β1
TL;DR: The effects of angiotensin II on migration of VSMCs are bimodal, ie, both migratory and antimigratory pathways are activated.
