Treatment of Brain Arteriovenous Malformations A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

TL;DR: Although case fatality after treatment has decreased over time, treatment of brain AVM remains associated with considerable risks and incomplete efficacy, and Randomized controlled trials comparing different treatment modalities appear justified.
Journal ArticleDOI

IDH1 mutations at residue p.R132 (IDH1(R132)) occur frequently in high-grade gliomas but not in other solid tumors.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors search for mutations at position R132 of the IDH1 gene in a panel of 672 tumor samples, including high-grade glioma, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), melanoma, bladder, breast, colorectal, lung, ovarian, pancreas, prostate, and thyroid carcinoma specimens.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epilepsy in low-grade gliomas: the impact on cognitive function and quality of life.

TL;DR: Low‐grade glioma patients suffer from a number of neuropsychological and psychological problems that are aggravated by the severity of epilepsy and by the intensity of the treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood platelets contain tumor-derived RNA biomarkers

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that tumor cells transfer (mutant) RNA into blood platelets in vitro and in vivo, and it is shown that platelets isolated from glioma and prostate cancer patients contain the cancer-associated RNA biomarkers EGFRvIII and PCA3, respectively.
