Meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies identifies six new Loci for serum calcium concentrations.

Conall M. O'Seaghdha, +108 more
- 19 Sep 2013 -
TL;DR: A genome-wide association meta-analysis of 39,400 individuals from 17 population-based cohorts and investigated the 14 most strongly associated loci in ≤21,679 additional individuals shed new light on the genetics of calcium homeostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low-Density Lipoprotein Triglycerides Associated With Low-Grade Systemic Inflammation, Adhesion Molecules, and Angiographic Coronary Artery Disease The Ludwigshafen Risk and Cardiovascular Health Study

TL;DR: Alterations of LDL metabolism characterized by high LDL-TG are related to CAD, systemic low-grade inflammation, and vascular damage, and LDL-TGs are indicative of CE-depleted LDL, elevated IDL, and dense LDL.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel Genetic Markers Associate with Atrial Fibrillation Risk in Europeans and Japanese

Steven A. Lubitz, +65 more
TL;DR: The chromosome 4q25 AF locus is architecturally complex and harbors at least 4 AF susceptibility signals in individuals of European ancestry and similar polygenic AF susceptibility exists between Europeans and Japanese.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atorvastatin and Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients on Hemodialysis

TL;DR: In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus undergoing hemodialysis, atorvastatin significantly reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiac events and death from any cause if pretreatment LDL-cholesterol is >145 mg/dl (3.76 mmol/L).
