TL;DR: Genetically determined reproductive aging is not causally associated with CHD risk (factors) in women, nor were the genetic variants associated in men, according to a bidirectional Mendelian randomization approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma parathyroid hormone and cardiovascular disease in treatment‐naive patients with primary hyperparathyroidism: The EPATH trial
Julia Wetzel,Stefan Pilz,Stefan Pilz,Martin R. Grübler,Astrid Fahrleitner-Pammer,H. P. Dimai,Dirk von Lewinski,Ewald Kolesnik,Sabine Perl,Christian Trummer,Verena Schwetz,Andreas Meinitzer,Evgeny Belyavskiy,Jakob Völkl,Cristiana Catena,Vincent Brandenburg,Winfried März,Winfried März,Winfried März,Burkert Pieske,Burkert Pieske,Helmut Brussee,Andreas Tomaschitz,Nicolas Verheyen +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated cross-sectional relationships between PTH and 24-hour pulse wave velocity, nocturnal systolic blood pressure, and left ventricular mass index in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Myeloperoxidase, asymmetric dimethyl-arginine and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-system in cardiovascular risk patients: Cross-sectional findings from the Ludwigshafen Risk and Cardiovascular Health (LURIC) study
Sieglinde Zelzer,Dietmar Enko,Dietmar Enko,Stefan Pilz,Andreas Tomaschitz,Andreas Tomaschitz,Winfried März,Winfried März,Winfried März,Andreas Meinitzer +9 more
TL;DR: MPO concentrations were significantly associated with higher ADMA levels and an up-regulated circulating RAAS in patients with CVD, and serum levels of ADMA and angiotensin II were shown to be more predictive for all-cause and CVD mortality compared to MPO.
Journal ArticleDOI

Albert,Patrick T. Ellinor +69 more
TL;DR: A large-scale association analysis of gene-gene interactions with AF performed in 8,173 AF cases and 65,237 AF-free referents collected from 15 studies for discovery did not find significant interactions that were associated with AF susceptibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neopterin is associated with cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality in renal transplant patients.
Hege Pihlstrøm,Geir Mjøen,Winfried März,Winfried März,Winfried März,Dag Olav Dahle,Sadollah Abedini,Ingar Holme,Bengt Fellström,Alan G. Jardine,Stefan Pilz,Stefan Pilz,Hallvard Holdaas +12 more
TL;DR: Inflammatory markers show significant associations with cardiovascular events and all‐cause mortality after kidney transplantation and neopterin, reflecting interferon‐γ‐release, may better reflect the proinflammatory state of recipients than less specific markers.
