Robust analysis of secondary phenotypes in case-control genetic association studies.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a general approach for estimating and testing the population effect of a genetic variant on a secondary phenotype based on inverse probability weighted estimating equations, where the weights depend on genotype and the secondary phenotype, and shows that it is substantially more robust to model misspecification.

Low Bone Mineral Density in the Early Menopausal Transition: Role for Ovulatory Function

TL;DR: Lower urine estrone conjugate AUC and higher urine FSH AUC were significantly associated with lower BMD, however, luteal abnormalities based on menstrual cycle attributes were not significant associated with BMD at the total hip or lumbar spine after adjustment for age, body mass index, urinary hormone concentrations, menopausal status, and race/ethnicity.
