TL;DR: The cloning of the FMF gene promises to shed light on the regulation of acute inflammatory responses and is described as a member of a family of nuclear factors homologous to the Ro52 autoantigen.

Journal ArticleDOI
An activating NLRC4 inflammasome mutation causes autoinflammation with recurrent macrophage activation syndrome

TL;DR: A new monoallelic inflammasome defect is described that expands the monogenic autoinflammatory disease spectrum to include MAS and suggests new targets for therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Familial Mediterranean fever at the millennium. Clinical spectrum, ancient mutations, and a survey of 100 American referrals to the National Institutes of Health.
Jonathan Samuels,Ivona Aksentijevich,Yelizaveta Torosyan,Michael Centola,Zuoming Deng,Raman Sood,Daniel L. Kastner +6 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that ethnic background is an important predictor of finding 1 of the presently known mutations, and the knowledge of ancestries atypical for FMF can suggest the diagnosis of other hereditary periodic fever syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The IRG-S expands the diagnostic armamentarium in evaluating USAIDs and points to different pathways regulating IRG expression as well as 3 additional autoinflammatory diseases: IL-18-mediated PAP and recurrent MAS, NEMO∆5-associated autoinflammatory syndrome (NEMO-NDAS), and SAMD9L- associated autoinflammatory disease (SAMD 9L-SAAD).
