TL;DR: The progressive accumulation of exhausted, unconventionally activated CD8+PD1+ T cells in NASH-affected livers provides a rationale for stratification of patients with HCC according to underlying aetiology in studies of immunotherapy as a primary or adjuvant treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolic effects of n-3 PUFA as phospholipids are superior to triglycerides in mice fed a high-fat diet: possible role of endocannabinoids.
Martin Rossmeisl,Zuzana Macek Jilkova,Ondrej Kuda,Tomas Jelenik,Dasa Medrikova,Barbora Stankova,Björn Kristinsson,Gudmundur G. Haraldsson,Harald Svensen,Iren Stoknes,Peter Sjövall,Ylva Magnusson,Michiel G.J. Balvers,Kitty C.M. Verhoeckx,Eva Tvrzická,Morten Bryhn,Jan Kopecky +16 more
TL;DR: Compared with triglycerides, dietary DHA/EPA administered as phospholipids are superior in preserving a healthy metabolic profile under obesogenic conditions, possibly reflecting better bioavalability and improved modulation of the endocannabinoid system activity in WAT.
Journal ArticleDOI
n-3 fatty acids and rosiglitazone improve insulin sensitivity through additive stimulatory effects on muscle glycogen synthesis in mice fed a high-fat diet
Ondrej Kuda,Tomas Jelenik,Zuzana Macek Jilkova,Pavel Flachs,Martin Rossmeisl,M Hensler,Ludmila Kazdova,NC Ogston,Marcin Baranowski,Jan Górski,Petra Janovska,Vladimir Kus,Jan Polak,Vidya Mohamed-Ali,Rémy Burcelin,Saverio Cinti,Morten Bryhn,Jan Kopecky +17 more
TL;DR: DHA/EPA and rosiglitazone can be used as complementary therapies to counteract dyslipidaemia and insulin resistance and the combination treatment may reduce dose requirements and hence the incidence of adverse side effects of thiazolidinedione therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex differences during the course of diet-induced obesity in mice: adipose tissue expandability and glycemic control.
Dasa Medrikova,Zuzana Macek Jilkova,Kristina Bardova,Petra Janovska,Martin Rossmeisl,Jan Kopecky +5 more
TL;DR: Compared with males, female mice demonstrate increased capacity for adipocyte enlargement in response to a long-term HF feeding, which is associated with reduced adipose tissue macrophage infiltration and lower fat deposition in the liver, and with better insulin sensitivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
n-3 PUFA: bioavailability and modulation of adipose tissue function
Jan Kopecky,Martin Rossmeisl,Pavel Flachs,Ondrej Kuda,Petr Brauner,Zuzana Macek Jilkova,Barbora Stankova,Eva Tvrzická,Morten Bryhn +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of n-3 LC PUFA are mediated transcriptionally by AMP-activated protein kinase and by other mechanisms, which activate a metabolic switch toward lipid catabolism and suppression of lipogenesis in the liver, adipose tissue and small intestine.
