TL;DR: In this article, the instantaneous mode response of dynamically loaded elastic, viscous, ideally plastic and rigid, viscoplastic structures is defined and characterized by variational criteria with isometric constraints.
Abstract: Instantaneous mode response of dynamically loaded elastic, viscous, ideally plastic and rigid, viscoplastic structures are defined and characterized by variational criteria with isometric constraints. Under some loading conditions, the instantaneous mode responses coincide with the natural mode solutions of those problems. For the case of a rigid, perfectly plastic problem, it is believed that the criterion for an instantaneous mode response would yield simultaneously the true limit load and the true collapse mechanism of the limit analysis. Examples of beams and plates of various materials subjected to uniformly distributed, rectangular pulse load or impulsive loading are given to illustrate the instantaneous mode responses which are then compared with exact solutions.

TL;DR: In this article, the solubility of carefully characterized UO2 in pOH 1.5 and pOH 2.5 aqueous solutions has been determined from 25°C to 300°C using a flow apparatus.
Abstract: The solubility of carefully characterized UO2 in pOH 1.5 and pOH 2.5 aqueous solutions has been determined from 25°C to 300°C using a flow apparatus. Data were analyzed in terms of the reaction
$$UO_2 + 2H_2 O + OH^ - \rightleftharpoons U(OH); log K = - 5.86 + 32/T$$
The extreme sensitivity of both the UO2 surface and aqueous U(IV) to oxidation is discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reduced Navier-Stokes equations are solved by transform methods for both rectangular and cylindrical geometries, and the authors show that relatively high pressures can exist at small asperities on the surfaces as they approach one another.
Abstract: As parallel faces separated by a fluid film approach one another, a pressure is developed in the film. The reduced Navier-Stokes equations are solved by transform methods for both rectangular and cylindrical geometries. Relatively high pressures can exist at small asperities on the surfaces as they approach one another.

TL;DR: In this article, replicas taken off the fracture surfaces of self-bonded SiC were found to have transparent flakes of β-SiC attached, which were shown to have moved during the fracture process.
Abstract: Plastic-carbon replicas taken off the fracture surfaces of self-bonded SiC were found to have transparent flakes ofβ-SiC attached. Certain of the flakes contained dislocations which were shown to have moved during the fracture process. The dislocations were shown to move on a {111} slip plane and to have a Burgers vectora/2 〈110〉.

TL;DR: The use of high field superconducting d.c. magnets in cyclotron design makes possible accelerators that are small and consequently have a significant cost advantage over comparable iron-magnet cyclotrons as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The use of high field superconducting d.c. magnets in cyclotron design makes possible accelerators that are small and consequently have a significant cost advantage over comparable iron-magnet cyclotrons. A general description of superconducting isochronous cyclotrons is given, with emphasis on the magnet design requirements. Saturated iron poles to provide flutter focussing are described. A conceptual design for a heavy ion energy booster cyclotron for a tandem Van de Graaff is described, similar cyclotrons for production of proton or deuteron primary beams and π mesons or neutron secondary beams can, in view of the low cost, be considered for dedicated applications such as activation analysis or cancer therapy.
