Abstract: Since waterborne minerals appear in ionic form and are readily absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, drinking water could be a crucial source of mineral intake. However, no comprehensive research has yet determined how trace elements in drinking water relate to body composition. We aimed to assess the relationship between clinically important trace elements in public drinking water and body composition in average, overweight and obese individuals in Turkey. The study's population consisted of 423 participants: 143 overweight, 138 obese and 142 healthy control individuals, grouped according to clinical cutoff points of body mass index (BMI). We measured levels of lithium (Li), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), silicon (Si), tin (Sn), strontium (Sr), boron (B), aluminium (Al), barium (Ba) and rubidium (Rb) in samples from wells of municipal water by using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. We gauged all the participants' body composition measurements with a BC-418 body composition analyser. In all the participants, body weight values showed significant positive correlations with Ni levels in drinking water, as did BMI values with Al levels and percentage of obesity with Ni, Si and B levels. In particular, Ni levels showed significant positive correlations with the basal metabolic rate, activity calories, and total activity of participants. Giving findings showing correlations between obesity-related parameters and Al, Si, B and Ni content in drinking water, we hope that these associations will be clarified with further studies including cellular, experimental and clinical studies. Hence, medical practitioners must be aware of trace element levels in drinking water for overweight and obese patients.

Abstract: The importance and utilization of mobile communication are increasing day by day, and the short message service SMS is one of them Although SMS is a widely used communication way, it brings together a major problem, which is SMS spam messages SMS spams do not only use vain in the mobile communication traffic but also disturb users Based on this fact, blacklisting methods, statistical methods which are built on the frequency of occurrence of words or characters, and machine learning methods have been employed Because punishments and legal laws are not enough to solve this problem and the Group Special Mobile number of SMS spam can easily be changed, a content-based approach must be proposed Content-based methods showed high success in spam e-mail filtering, but it is hard in the SMS spam filtering because SMS messages are extremely short and generally contains many abbreviations In this study, an image processing method, local ternary pattern was improved to extract features from SMS messages in the feature extraction stage In the proposed one-dimensional ternary patterns, firstly, text message was converted to their UTF-8 values Later, each character its UTF-8 value in the message was compared with its neighbors Two different feature sets were extracted from the results of these comparisons Finally, some machine learning methods were employed to classify these features In order to validate the proposed approach, three different SMS corpora were used The achieved accuracies and other employee performance measures showed that the proposed approach, one-dimensional ternary patterns, can be effectively employed in SMS spam filtering Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

Abstract: This study investigated the effects of an inclusive physical activity (IPA) program on the motor and social skills and attitudes of students with and without autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study sample consisted of 45 ASD and typical development (TD) students aged between 6 and 11 years. The students were randomly divided into two groups: a training group consisting of 27 students (n = 13 with ASD and n = 14 with TD) and a control group consisting of 18 students (n = 9 with ASD and n = 9 with TD). In conclusion, the IPA program increased the motor and social skills of the ASD students and improved the motor skills of the TD students and positively affected their attitudes towards the ASD students.

Abstract: Bu calismanin amaci Malva neglecta ve Malvella sherardiana turlerinin antioksidan, antikolinesteraz ve antimikrobiyal aktiviterini, aflatoksin icerigi ile fenolik bilesik ve yag asidi profillerini LC-MS/MS ve GC/MS ile belirlemektir. Incelenen yirmi yedi bilesikten, M. neglecta ve M. sherardiana turlerinde en bol bulunan bilesiklerin sirasiyla malik (13108.97 μg/g) ve 4-OH benzoik asit (2200.57 μg/g) oldugu saptanmistir. M. neglecta turunun metanol ekstresindeki toplam flavonoid icerigin (15.58 μg QEs/mg ekstre) toplam fenolik icerikten (68.29 μg PEs/ mg ekstre) daha az oldugu belirlenmistir. Bitkilerin metanol ekstresi calisilan antioksidan aktivite belirleme yontemlerinin tumunde en yuksek aktiviteyi gostermistir. En iyi kolinesteraz enzim inhibisyonu ise M. neglecta turunun metanol ekstresi tarafindan kaydedilmistir (%53.68 AChE enzim inhibisyonu ve %63.95 BChE enzim inhibisyonu). Bitkilerin aseton ekstreleri ise C. albicans turune karsi orta duzeyde antimikrobiyal aktivite gostermistir. Bu calismadan elde edilen sonuclar, M. neglecta ve M. sherardiana turlerinin yuksek fenolik asit icerigi ve antioksidan aktivitesinden dolayi besin kaynagi olarak kullanilabilecegini gostermektedir. Ayrica ekstreler aflatoxin icermemektedir.
