Abstract: The concept of so called iVectors, where each utterance is represented by fixed-length low-dimensional feature vector, has recently become very successfully in speaker verification. In this work, we apply the same idea in the context of Language Recognition (LR). To recognize language in the iVector space, we experiment with three different linear classifiers: one based on a generative model, where classes are modeled by Gaussian distributions with shared covariance matrix, and two discriminative classifiers, namely linear Support Vector Machine and Logistic Regression. The tests were performed on the NIST LRE 2009 dataset and the results were compared with stateof-the-art LR based on Joint Factor Analysis (JFA). While the iVector system offers better performance, it also seems to be complementary to JFA, as their fusion shows another improvement.

Abstract: This work studies the use of deep neural networks (DNNs) to address automatic language identification (LID). Motivated by their recent success in acoustic modelling, we adapt DNNs to the problem of identifying the language of a given spoken utterance from short-term acoustic features. The proposed approach is compared to state-of-the-art i-vector based acoustic systems on two different datasets: Google 5M LID corpus and NIST LRE 2009. Results show how LID can largely benefit from using DNNs, especially when a large amount of training data is available. We found relative improvements up to 70%, in C avg , over the baseline system.

Abstract: Approximate circuits and approximate circuit design methodologies attracted a significant attention of researchers as well as industry in recent years. In order to accelerate the approximate circuit and system design process and to support a fair benchmarking of circuit approximation methods, we propose a library of approximate adders and multipliers called EvoApprox8b. This library contains 430 non-dominated 8-bit approximate adders created from 13 conventional adders and 471 non-dominated 8-bit approximate multipliers created from 6 conventional multipliers. These implementations were evolved by a multi-objective Cartesian genetic programming. The EvoApprox8b library provides Verilog, Matlab and C models of all approximate circuits. In addition to standard circuit parameters, the error is given for seven different error metrics. The EvoApprox8b library is available at: www.fit.vutbr.cz/research/groups/ehw/approxlib
