TL;DR: In dengue hemorrhagic fever, thrombocytopenia was more prolonged and the number of atypical lymphocytes was higher, while the other hematological abnormalities presented daily evolution similar to those in classic d Dengue.
Abstract: Dengue is a neglected disease with high morbidity and mortality among children and adults that occurs mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. The objective of this study was to evaluate hematological changes in patients with clinical manifestations of dengue. Medical records relating to 543 cases of dengue virus 3 that occurred during the 2007 epidemic in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, were studied. Cases of classic dengue predominated (90.2%), with mild clinical manifestations lacking complications. The main hematological findings were leukopenia (68.3%), thrombocytopenia (66.5%), lymphocytopenia (67.2%) and atypical lymphocytes (67%). In dengue hemorrhagic fever, thrombocytopenia was more prolonged and the number of atypical lymphocytes was higher, while the other hematological abnormalities presented daily evolution similar to those in classic dengue. The hematological changes observed in dengue present according to the clinical course of the disease and its severity.

TL;DR: A high occurrence of infant malnutrition and a worrisome mother-child health situation is documented in indigenous children from Kaiowa and Guarani indigenous communities, Caarapo Reserve, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.
Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional status of indigenous children and to determine the conditions of mother-child health. A cross-sectional study was performed with a sample of 137 children from 0 to 59 months of age from Kaiowa and Guarani indigenous communities, Caarapo Reserve, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Interviews were carried out using a questionnaire covering the conditions of mother-child health. Nutritional evaluation was performed using anthropometric measurements (weight and height). Results showed that 19.7% of mothers had not undergone prenatal examination and 53.3% had home births. Malnutrition in children was 18.2% and 34.1% for the weight/age and height/age indexes, respectively. The proportion of children with malnutrition, when separated by sex, age and education level of the mother, did not show a significant statistical difference for both indexes. This study documented a high occurrence of infant malnutrition and a worrisome mother-child health situation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluate a relacao da composicao mineralogica e quimica do solo with a estabilidade de agregados do tamanho de silte.

TL;DR: The rcellminer R package enables flexible programmatic access to CellMiner's unparalleled breadth of NCI-60 data, including gene and protein expression, copy number, whole exome mutations, as well as activity data for ∼21K compounds, with information on their structure, mechanism of action and repeat screens.
Abstract: Purpose: The rcellminer R package provides a wide range of functionality to help R users access and explore molecular profiling and drug response data for the NCI-60. The package enables flexible programmatic access to CellMiner’s unparalleled breadth of NCI-60 data, including gene and protein expression, copy number, whole exome mutations, as well as activity data for ∼21K compounds, with information on their structure, mechanism of action and repeat screens. Functions are available to easily visualize compound structures, activity patterns and molecular feature profiles. Additionally, embedded R Shiny applications allow interactive data exploration. Availability and implementation: rcellminer is compatible with R 3.2 and above on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The package, documentation, tutorials and Shiny-based applications are available through Bioconductor (http://www.bioconductor.org/packages/rcellminer); ongoing updates will occur according to the Bioconductor release schedule with new CellMiner data. The package is free and open-source (LGPL 3). Contact: lunaa@cbio.mskcc.org or vinodh.rajapakse@nih.gov
