TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantitatively analyse and confirm the existence of a direct and indirect dependence on the number of businesses in individual EU countries to voluntarily implement environmental concepts of social responsibility in the form of environmental management and audit, EMAS.
Abstract: By now, does not suffice to evaluate companies only from an economic point of view, but it is necessary to look at the business and the social and environmental context. Environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources is also reflected in the growth of interest in the area of environmental and social research in the industry. This fact highlights the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR), according to which the environmental area, the concept of the same weight as economic and social level. The environmental consequences of the company are in advanced economies communicated not only with experts but becomes of interest to the whole society and an integral part of evaluating the success of socio-economic development. The study aims to quantitatively analyse and confirm the existence of a direct and indirect dependence on the number of businesses in individual EU countries to voluntarily implement environmental concepts of social responsibility in the form of environmental management and audit, EMAS. The object of quantitative analysis are selected EU countries.

Abstract: Image classification represents a complex problem which occurs in variety of science and real life applications. Neural network is one of the excellent tools which could be used to solve this problem. The research presented in this paper is motivated by several consultations with active crime scene investigators. During these consultations, it became apparent, that criminology department is in critical need of advanced software for tire tread print identification. The current software used by crime scene investigators is outdated, time demanding and hard to work with. Application for tire tread print identification should be one of results of project created on the basis of our work with criminology department. This paper presents one of the first steps of this identification - tire tread position identification.

TL;DR: Cillik et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the level of general physical performance and physical development of 7 and 10-year-old pupils attending primary schools in Banska Bystrica.
Abstract: Cillik, I., Kollar, R., Kremnický, J., Pivovarnicek, P., & Mandzakova, M. (2015). The level of general physical performance and physical development of 7 and 10-year-old boys and girls. J. Hum. Sport Exerc., 9(Proc1), pp.S259-S268. This contribution deals with the level of general physical performance and physical development of 7 and 10-year-old pupils attending primary schools. The sample consisted of pupils from all primary schools in Banska Bystrica: 492 pupils attending the 1 st grade and 433 pupils attending the 4 th grade. The following indicators of general physical performance were monitored: sit-andreach, standing long jump, sit-ups in 30 s, flexed arm hang, shuttle run 4x10 meters, endurance shuttle run. Also basic somatic indicators such as body height, body weight and BMI were found out. In both age categories we found out that male pupils achieved better level in five tests of general physical performance: standing long jump, sit-up, flexed arm hang, shuttle-run 4 x 10 m and endurance shuttle-run. At the age of 7, male pupils are statistically significantly better in three tests (p<0.05) and at the age of 10, they are better in four tests (p<0.05). Girls achieve statistically significantly better level of trunk flexibility (p<0.05). 7-years old boys and girls achieve better level of joint flexibility than10-years old boys and girls. In other tests, the 10-year-old boys and girls are better. Key words: PHYSICAL EDUCATION, PRIMARY SCHOOLS, THE 1ST GRADE PUPILS, THE 4TH GRADE PUPILS, TESTING OF GENERAL PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE, SOMATIC INDICATORS

TL;DR: In this article, the authors dealt with the research of spiders in this site in 2015 and spring of 2017, and found that despite it is a secondary anthropogenous habitat, the fauna of spiders is relatively rich, including infrequent or up to rare species, including Theonina cornix, Phycosoma inornatum, Altella biuncata, Brommella falcigera, Mastigusa arietina, Diaea livens, Tmarus stellio, Chalcoscirtus brevicymbialis, Pellenes
Abstract: Abandoned pastures are frequent phenomenon throughout central Europe due to the reduction of grazing. This also concerns the abandoned pasture near the village of Malé Kršteňany (Western Slovakia). We dealt with the research of spiders in this site in 2015 and spring of 2017. Despite it is a secondary anthropogenous habitat, the fauna of spiders is relatively rich, including infrequent or up to rare species, including Theonina cornix, Phycosoma inornatum, Altella biuncata, Brommella falcigera, Mastigusa arietina, Diaea livens, Tmarus stellio, Chalcoscirtus brevicymbialis, Pellenes nigrociliatus and Haplodrassus kulczynskii. The species of warm and moderate habitats are highly prevailing here – together it is 97%. The analysis of the spider faunal composition according to originality of habitat is even more interesting. The share of climax species is surprisingly high – 54.83%, despite this habitat is not at all ‘pristine’. Experts opinions on the climax, especially those of a conservative nature, require revision and a comprehensive view of modern ecology. We suppose that some particular stages of the on-going succession process can be interpreted as "partial climax stages" tending towards the ‘final’ arrangement of the biota. It is necessary to emphasize that the climax is not at the ‘definitive’ and ‘constant’ stage, on the contrary, it is a highly dynamic and variable process.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the connectivity between spatial competitiveness and resilience in Europe and seek to design an operational framework for concerted strategies of competitive and resilient regions, and propose several systematic types of concerted regional strategies according to the performance of a region measured by resilience and competitiveness sub-indices.
Abstract: The European space-economy represents a complex system with a great internal heterogeneity, intensive socioeconomic interactions and differential growth trajectories among countries and regions. The present study aims to investigate the connectivity between spatial competitiveness and resilience in Europe and seeks to design an operational framework for concerted strategies of competitive and resilient regions. To assess the linkage between resilience and competitiveness, we have developed a new measure, viz. the Resilience and Competitiveness Index (RACI) as a function of two constituent sub-indices: Resilience and Competitiveness. This approach is tested on the basis of detailed data on European regions. The empirical results from 268 EU NUTS2 regions offer a solid anchor point for the proposed operational framework for concerted development strategies of competitive and resilient regions. Our research distinguishes and proposes several systematic types of concerted regional strategies according to the performance of a region measured by Resilience and Competiveness sub-indices. A key result of the study is the design of an operational constellation for strategic regional policy evaluation, with a major added value for policy- and decision-making purposes. The use of official data from Eurostat and of standard indicators in our research assures continuity and consistency with the official Regional Competitiveness Index (RCI) classification and measurement, so that policy makers are able to compare the performance of their regions over time and to develop proper concerted strategies accordingly. The clear evidence of a connectivity between regional competitiveness and resilience may help to develop a governance approach that balances competitiveness (mainly represented by productive assets) with resilience (mainly represented by sustainability and ecological awareness) and thus to deal with the complexity in socioeconomic systems.
