TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present possibilities of the influence of a facility manager on the investment and running costs of buildings with respect to the environmental management principle, through analysis of building life cycle.
Abstract: Since buildings count for half of the primary energy sources consumption as well as half of all consumed raw materials, produce hundreds of million tons of waste and a third of the world's CO2 production, construction and building of low energy buildings has become an international trend. More than transportation, mining industry, or any other type of industry it is primarily the area of building industry and building administration that lead to better management of narrow resources as well as to the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions. In this area facility management also plays an important role. The aim of the article is via analysis of building life cycle to present possibilities of the influence of a facility manager on the investment and running costs of buildings with respect to the environmental management principle.

01 Jan 2020TL;DR: The Zero Waste concept encourages consumers to reduce consumption and recycling of acquired goods and materials, which in economic and social terms can bring regression under certain circumstances, to the detriment of environmental progress as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The aim of the article is an effort to introduce readers to the problem of food waste in a comprehensive concept. It focuses on defining concepts, defining losses in the different phases of the food chain together with their environmental, economic and social impacts to the society. It also presents proposed or already applied solutions in connection with the effort to reduce food waste. More than 14 million tonnes. This is the amount of waste produced by Slovakia in 2018. Of this 2.1 million tonnes was municipal waste, which represents 393 kg per inhabitant per year. Unfortunately, this number is growing every year. Zero Waste concept encourages consumers to reduce consumption and recycling of acquired goods and materials, which in economic and social terms can bring regression under certain circumstances, to the detriment of environmental progress. If we do not begin to rationally analyze our own needs and at the same time intelligently manage the waste that we, as a human being, produce globally, we are at risk of significantly reducing the comfort of living. I assume and believe that this is not a vision that we would like to leave to future generations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore feelings and perceptions of crowding at the Bear Lake trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) during the winter season while examining the type(s) of activities they were engaging in along with exploring any feelings they might have felt.
Abstract: Crowding in America’s national parks is a severe problem. Places like Arches National Park are witnessing such an influx of tourism that they are considering new management techniques. Understanding the social science of the situation through crowding studies assists park management in developing strategies for resource protection, recreation management, conflict prevention, and user satisfaction. The purpose of this research was to explore feelings and perceptions of crowding at the Bear Lake trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). The main goals of the study were to obtain information about visitors of RMNP during the winter season while examining the type(s) of activities they were engaging in along with exploring any feelings of crowding they might have felt. There were 428 completed questionnaires for this study. Results showed fewer conditions of crowding compared to summer users at the park. However, the results of this study also show that some individuals did experience crowding...
