TL;DR: In this article, an alternative reaction mechanism is proposed, based on a micro-heterogeneous oxidation of Mn(II) ion, adsorbed on a surface of the MnO2 colloid.
Abstract: The oxidation of Mn(II) by bromine is an autocatalytic reaction, which seems to be important for a detailed elucidation of chemical oscillators, based on manganese chemistry. With regard to the mechanism proposed previously, an alternative reaction mechanism is proposed, based on a micro-heterogeneous oxidation of Mn(II) ion, adsorbed on a surface of the MnO2 colloid.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identified determinants of life satisfaction in karate practitioners and team sports players, and found that the type of practiced sport differentiates and significant affects the levels of athletes' life satisfaction.
Abstract: Background and Study Aim: Life satisfaction is an overall assessment of satisfaction with one’s own achievements and living conditions. It encourages activity and better coping with difficulties and obstacles. According to Juczyński, life satisfaction is the result of comparing one’s own situation with personal standards. When analyzing life satisfaction, one should consider the importance of physical activity and sport as dominant factors. The aim of the study is to identify determinants of life satisfaction in karate practitioners and team sports players. We accept the hypothesis that the type of practiced sport differentiates and significant affects the levels of athletes’ life satisfaction. Material and Methods: The study involved 110 team sports players and 90 martial arts practitioners. The sample selection was purposive, and accounted for respondents’ high sporting level. The Polish adaptation of the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) was used to assess the life satisfaction of surveyed athletes. Results: The obtained results indicate that both groups of athletes are characterized by higher levels of life satisfaction in relation to the general adult Polish population. In the analysis of life satisfaction determinants only two were found to be statistically significant: health behaviors and marital status. Other factors such as age, education, financial situation, gender, and type of sport do not determine life satisfaction. Conclusions: It is worthwhile to promote physical activity and other health behaviors, as they can contribute significantly to better life satisfaction. Practicing sports may be a key determinant of a high level of life satisfaction.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present selected results of an original representative survey of the use of time in Slovak households, in which one of the methods of determining the affective component of subjective well-being was used for the first time in Slovakia.
Abstract: Affective Well-Being of Private Sector Employees in Slovakia. The primary aim of the paper is to present selected results of an original representative survey of the use of time in Slovak households, in which one of the methods of determining the affective component of subjective well-being was used for the first time in Slovakia. Based on the recommendations of the harmonized research on the use of time, we identified extremely positive emotion (happiness) by the means of 24-hour monitoring of the allocation and use of time for paid work, unpaid work and leisure time during the working day and free day. For this contribution, we selected those respondents who are private sector employees. We evaluated and processed the perception of the affective component of subjective well-being (SWB) in terms of age categories of employees, gender, and household category. The research has shown that the hedonic component of SWB, meaning an extremely positive emotion, is the most common among employees in the 25-49 age group at performing unpaid work activities during the working day. Employed women perform more unpaid work and they feel more positive emotions during its performance than working men. Employees living in households with children up to 15 years of age feel more positive emotions at performing unpaid work activities than employees without young children. On the other hand, employees living in households without children (up to 15 years of age) experience more positive emotions during leisure time activities. TL;DR: The Eurobarometer data showed that almost 20% of European Union respondents disapproved of U.S. policy in all five dimensions the surveys examined as mentioned in this paper, indicating that anti-Americans exhibit systematic differences in age, education, geographical location, policy preferences and nationality.
Abstract: The term anti-Americanism has become common in public and academic debate in the last decade. Yet we have only limited knowledge of those who hold such views. From 2003, 2005, and 2006 Eurobarometer data, almost 20% of European Union (EU) respondents disapproved of U.S. policy in all five dimensions the surveys examined. Following the literature, this consistent opposition is defined as anti-American. Anti-Americans exhibit systematic differences in age, education, geographical location, policy preferences, and nationality. In addition, although anti-Americanism is associated with a preference for greater European independence, perhaps surprisingly, it is also linked to a desire for a less federal and hence less powerful Europe. In both sets of attitudes, to the United States and to the EU, there are substantial variations within countries between different types of locality, which reinforces the view that it is too simplistic to describe a country as being anti-American or being pro-European integration.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors deal with research into the innovative provision of public services by the non-governmental organizations in the field of housing and analyse the benefits of innovation in social housing provision by an internationally awarded organization ETP Slovakia.
Abstract: The paper deals with research into the innovative provision of public services by the non-governmental organizations in the field of housing. The paper describes the legislation of the housing system in Slovakia and aims to analyse innovation in social housing provision. The paper contributes to the knowledge on innovative social housing solutions provided by non-governmental organizations. The use of cost benefit analysis reveals the benefits of innovation in housing provision by an internationally awarded organization ETP Slovakia. The analysis proves the government´s possible savings of public expenditures if it would decide to support the innovative approach in social housing provision.
