TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted eight in-depth interviews of agri-food MSEs and concluded that MSE are using their networks to combat their size-related disadvantages, but not by growing; rather, the networks enable them to remain small and independent.
Abstract: Increasing competition and regulatory changes place micro-sized enterprises (MSEs) in the agri-food sector under strong competitive pressure. Smallness may be a substantial barrier to success. Previous research suggests that networks can be used strategically to combat these constraints. However, there is a lack of understanding of the extent to which this finding may be applicable to MSEs and the local agri-food sector. Based on eight in-depth interviews of agri-food MSEs, it is concluded that MSEs apply networks to strengthen their competitive advantage – for example, by forming stronger customer relationships. The MSEs are using their networks to combat their size-related disadvantages, but not by growing; rather, the networks enable them to remain small and independent while further strengthening their position as small producers.

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis, characterization, and luminescence properties of (Bu4N)2[Mo6I8(NCS)6] are reported, showing broad excitation in the UV/Vis region and an emission around 690 nm.
Abstract: The synthesis, characterization, and luminescence properties of (Bu4N)2[Mo6I8(NCS)6] are reported. Orange crystals of (Bu4N)2[Mo6I8(NCS)6] were crystallized from acetone solution and used for X-ray single-crystal structure determination and refinement, yielding a structure with a centrosymmetric [Mo6I8(NCS)6]2– ion. Photoluminescence studies on the crystalline solid revealed a broad excitation in the UV/Vis region and an emission around 690 nm. The red emission intensity decreases with increasing partial pressure of atmospheric molecular O2.

TL;DR: In this paper, a W:B4C multilayer phase retarder has been designed and characterized, which shows a nearly constant phase retardance between 640 and 850ÄeV photon energies when operated near the Bragg condition.
Abstract: A W:B4C multilayer phase retarder has been designed and characterized which shows a nearly constant phase retardance between 640 and 850 eV photon energies when operated near the Bragg condition. This freestanding transmission multilayer was used successfully to determine, for the first time, the full polarization vector at soft x-ray energies above 600 eV, which was not possible before due to the lack of suitable optical elements. Thus, quantitative polarimetry is now possible at the 2p edges of the magnetic substances Fe, Co, and Ni for the benefit of magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy employing circularly polarized synchrotron radiation

TL;DR: Interferometric measurements of the thermo-optical aberrations of the laser medium of an Yb:YAG thin-disk laser in pumped and cw lasing conditions at several pump-power levels with a mean repeatability of 5 nm build the basis for future intracavity compensation of the aberration with the authors' deformable mirror.
Abstract: We report on interferometric measurements of the thermo-optical aberrations of the laser medium of an Yb:YAG thin-disk laser in pumped and cw lasing conditions at several pump-power levels with a mean repeatability of 5 nm. These measurements build the basis for future intracavity compensation of the aberrations with our deformable mirror in order to improve the fundamental-mode efficiency.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mesophase system for the extraction of triterpenes oleanolic acid (OA) and ursolic acid was proposed. But it was not shown that triterpene acid extraction with mesophases is possible.
Abstract: The extraction of phytochemicals from plants and their downstream processing is often associated with solvents, which are problematical with respect to health, safety, and environment. An alternative approach is the extraction with aqueous two-phase systems, which offers a benign environment for complex molecular structures. Particularly nonionic surfactants like, e.g., Genapol® X-080 and Tween® 65 in high concentrations in water can be used to form aqueous two-phase systems. Sage (Salvia triloba) is used as a model plant, since it contains a relatively high concentration of the two triterpenes oleanolic acid (OA) and ursolic acid (UA), which are interesting due to their wide range of biological effects. Kinetic experiments have shown that an extractive isolation of triterpene acids using such mesophase systems is possible.
