TL;DR: In this article, a discussion about Alternativen zur geschlossenen Heimunterbringung im gemeindepsychiatrischen Versorgungssystem gibt es in Deutschland.

TL;DR: Vibrational spectra of SrBa8[BN2]6 and EuBa8(2)6 confirm the discrete linear [BN2](3-) units and (11)B solid state MAS NMR spectra are compatible with single crystallographic sites for the boron atoms.
Abstract: X-ray pure samples of SrBa8[BN2]6 and EuBa8[BN2]6 were synthesized from appropriate amounts of binary nitrides (Sr3N2, Ba3N2 and BN in sealed niobium ampoules and EuN, Ba3N2 and BN in BN crucibles, respectively) at temperatures up to 1370 K. The structure of SrBa8[BN2]6 was refined from single crystal X-ray diffractometer data: Fdm, a = 1595.1(1) pm, wR(F2) = 0.0515, 387 F2 values and 21 variables. EuBa8[BN2]6 has a lattice parameter of 1595.00(9) pm. Both nitridoborates adopt a new 2 × 2 × 2 superstructure variant of the LiCa4[BN2]3 type, realized through ordering of vacancies and Sr2+ and Eu2+ cations, respectively. The structures of SrBa8[BN2]6 and LiCa4[BN2]3 are related by a group–subgroup scheme. The Sr2+/vacancy ordering leads to an asymmetric coordination (1 × Sr2+ and 8 × Ba2+ in a distorted, mono-capped square prism) for the [BN2]3− units with B–N distances of 132 and 136 pm. Vibrational spectra of SrBa8[BN2]6 and EuBa8[BN2]6 confirm the discrete linear [BN2]3− units and 11B solid state MAS NMR spectra are compatible with single crystallographic sites for the boron atoms. In EuBa8[BN2]6 the spectra are profoundly influenced by interactions of the 11B nuclei with the unpaired electrons of the paramagnetic Eu2+ ions.

TL;DR: A new measuring device is described that allows for the reliable determination of bending and torsional stresses at the foot in shoes and can be reliably detected using the measurement system presented.
Abstract: Stress occurring at the feet while wearing footwear is often determined using pressure measurement systems. However, other forms of stress, such as bending, torsional and shear loadings, cannot be detected in shoes during day-to-day activities. Nevertheless, the detection of these types of stresses would be helpful for understanding the mechanical aspects of various kinds of hard and soft tissue injuries. Therefore, we describe the development of a new measuring device that allows the reliable determination of bending and torsional load at the foot in shoes. The system consists of a measuring insole and an analogue device with Bluetooth interface. The specific shape of the insole base layer, the positions of the strain gauges, and the interconnections between them have all been selected in such a way so as to isolate bending and torsional moment detections in the medial and lateral metatarsal region. The system was calibrated using a classical two-point test procedure. A single case study was executed to evaluate the new device for practical use. This application consisted of one subject wearing neutral shoes walking on a treadmill. The calibration results (coefficients of determination R2 > 0.999) show that bending and torsional load can be reliably detected using the measurement system presented. In the single case study, alternating bending and torsional load can be detected during walking, and the shape of the detected bending moments can be confirmed by the measurements of Arndt et al. (J Biomech 35:621–8, 2002). Despite some limitations, the presented device allows for the reliable determination of bending and torsional stresses at the foot in shoes.

TL;DR: In this article, an interdisciplinary research project, carried out in Germany and funded by the “Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU)” had explored the possibilities and limits of lasers for cleaning glass windows.
Abstract: Any cleaning process for stained glass windows has to consider the effectiveness of the treatment but also the potential damage for the art object. A variety of mechanical and chemical methods is currently used in restoration practice. The most effective ones are criticized because of their long-term risks. Therefore, an interdisciplinary research project, carried out in Germany and funded by the “Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU)” had explored the possibilities and limits of lasers for cleaning glass windows. At previous LACONA conferences the Excimer Laser equipment and results from the research project have been presented. This contribution puts the cleaning experiments in a broader context, by comparing lasers with conventional techniques. Scientific and practical aspects will be discussed, focussing on the removal of crust and aged polymers.
