TL;DR: The proposed ATDC scheme contains three elements, i.e., time-delay estimation (TDE), injected dynamics, and adaptive laws, which utilizes intentionally time-delayed signals to estimate the unknown system dynamics and brings a fascinating model-free nature.
Abstract: This paper proposes a new adaptive time-delay control (ATDC) scheme for cable-driven manipulators. The proposed ATDC scheme contains three elements, i.e., time-delay estimation (TDE), injected dynamics, and adaptive laws. The TDE utilizes intentionally time-delayed signals to estimate the unknown system dynamics and brings a fascinating model-free nature. The injected dynamics employ a fractional-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode (FONTSM) manifold and a fast-TSM-type reaching law, thus it can ensure fast dynamical response and high tracking accuracy in both sliding mode and reaching phases. The adaptive laws are utilized to obtain good robustness and effective suppression of the chatters simultaneously. Moreover, the continuous and chatter-free adaptive gains are used to enhance the control performance under time-varying disturbances. The tracking error is proved to be uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) using Lyapunov approach. Finally, the superiorities of the proposed ATDC scheme are demonstrated by three experiments using a cable-driven manipulator.

TL;DR: In this paper, the sensor locations are prioritized according to their ability to localize structural damage based on the eigenvector sensitivity method, which is in line with the requirements for structural damage localization.
Abstract: A method of optimizing sensor locations and detecting damage in a structure using the collected information is presented in this paper. Unlike most methods found in the literature, the sensor locations are prioritized according to their ability to localize structural damage based on the eigenvector sensitivity method. This is in line with the requirements for structural damage localization. Only a small subset of the total structural degrees-of-freedom is instrumented, and the incomplete modes yielded from these optimized sensor locations are used to localize structural damage. Numerical example and test results show that this approach is effective for detecting structural damage directly using optimum and incomplete test modes.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the use of NH4+ results in battery performance governed by the chemical nature of the ion-electrode interaction, and they show that H bonding between NH4+, and a bi-layered V2O5 electrode is coupled with prominent pseudocapacitive behavior.

TL;DR: Using the slow-state feedback control method, sufficient conditions to ensure the global uniform exponential stability of the closed-loop PDT SPSSs are derived and a preferable decoupling method deriving the mode-dependent controller gains are given for the first time.
Abstract: In this paper, a class of discrete-time singularly perturbed switched systems $\left ({\text {SPSSs}}\right) $ with persistent dwell-time $\left ({\text {PDT}}\right)$ switching law is firstly proposed. Using the slow-state feedback control method, sufficient conditions to ensure the global uniform exponential stability of the closed-loop PDT SPSSs are derived. Based on the aforementioned conditions, the analyses of the extended dissipative performance of the closed-loop PDT SPSSs and a preferable decoupling method deriving the mode-dependent controller gains are given for the first time. Finally, the potential practicability of the method is verified by a purely numerical example and a tunnel diode circuit model, and a convex optimization method calculating the upper bound of the singular perturbation parameter is provided.
