TL;DR: In this article, the seeds of Granny Smith apples were extracted by four solvents; water, methanol, chloroform, and n-hexane, and the results showed that the isolated coumarins have promising free radicals scavenging capacity and antitumor activity with superiority to compounds R3 and R5.
Abstract: The management of many human diseases linked to oxidative stress requires extensive research to explore novel agents with a potential antioxidant activity. In this study, the seeds of Granny Smith apples were extracted by four solvents; water, methanol, chloroform, and n-hexane. Extraction was performed using three techniques, which are kinetic maceration, ultrasound- and microwaves- facilitated extraction methods. These methods were carried out in three styles including non-serial, serial descendingly- and ascendingly- ordered in polarity. Phytochemical screening tests performed on the resultant extracts indicated the presence of coumarins in the methanol and chloroform extracts obtained from the applied techniques and styles. Five novel simple coumarins were isolated and their chemical structures elucidated by matching their physical properties and spectral data with those found in literature. Two in vitro biological activities were studied for the isolated products; the antioxidant strength which was studied by examining their capacity to scavenge DPPH and hydroxyl free radicals, and prefatory antitumor activity which was tested by MTT versus HeLa and MCF-7 cancer cell lines. The results showed that the isolated coumarins have promising free radicals scavenging capacity and antitumor activity with superiority to compounds R3 and R5. It is concluded that there is a positive correlation between the antioxidant activity of the isolated coumarins and their antitumor activity.

TL;DR: An epidemic model that warts proposed by Kermark and Mc Kendrick in 1927 in the form of S, I and R. compartments is developed and shows that the vaccination process is entirely dependent on the basic reproduction rate.
Abstract: The model of spread of infectious diseases is research that must be done continuously as the development of infectious diseases. Although medical measures can reduce the consequences of infectious diseases, preventing the spread of infectious diseases is the main action that must be taken. Vaccination is a method commonly used to control the spread of communicable diseases today. This study aims to develop an epidemic model that warts proposed by Kermark and Mc Kendrick in 1927 in the form of S, I and R. compartments. The method used was an experiment by adding V compartment which is a vaccination. The results show that the point remains disease free to become asymptotically stable when the number of basic reproduction is less than one which means that the disease will not spread in the population and eventually the disease will disappear from the population. Whereas the endemic point will be asymptotically stable when the number of basic reproduction is more than one which means that the disease Exists. This study can be concluded that based on the stability analysis shows that the vaccination process is entirely dependent on the basic reproduction rate.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used attitude as mediator to evaluate the effect of technology and culture as independent variables on students' motivation in learning English as a dependent variable and found that attitude is proved to strengthen the positive effect of both technologies and culture on motivation.
Abstract: Technology aids students’ English learning process and culture included in material content may attract students’ interest to learn English. Both are integrated in classroom learning and teaching of English to prescribe their effect on students’ motivation in learning English. Attitude as mediator is used to see whether or not it could boost the effect of technology and culture as independent variables on students’ motivation in learning English as dependent variable. Students’ perception to the direct and indirect effect of technology and culture on motivation through attitude is the focus of this research and which is the most affecting on students’ motivation. Questionnaires were sent online to 95 students of higher school as the respondents in this study. The data were analyzed by path analysis with SPSS verse 21 for windows. The findings show that integrating technology and culture in classroom learning could affect directly and indirectly through attitude the students’ motivation in learning English. Attitude is proved to strengthening the effect of technology and culture on motivation. However, the absence of attitude as mediator does not affect the positive effect of both technology and culture on motivation. The finding also shows that the effect of technology integration in classroom learning outweighs the effect of cultural integration on students’ motivation in learning English.. TL;DR: Overall, the method developed was accurate relative to COVID-19 prediction and diagnosis, upon which the rate of confirmed diagnosis could be improved and pave the way for timely clinical interventions.
Abstract: China’s Wuhan was the epicenter of coronavirus, reported in December 2019. A month later, there was an intensive outbreak inception. Indeed, epidemiologists and virologists forecasted that the peak of the crisis would be in three months and disappear by the end of the fourth month. However, the virus contagion’s healing, prediction, and diagnosis continue to pose critical challenges. In this study, the central objective was to engage in COVID-19 analysis to discern its general diagnosis index via artificial intelligence (AI) application. The motivation was to steer improvements in how accurately the disease could be diagnosed and allow for timely clinical interventions. The sample entailed 85 undiagnosed persons and 32 diagnosed individuals. The research context was in Zhejiang province. To screen the important indexes, four AI technology types were employed. To deal with the problem, some of the feature selection methods that were employed included recursive feature elimination, Gradient boosted feature selection, and the multi-objective decomposition ensemble optimizer (ARMED). In the results, it was noted that out of 18 indexes that were achieved in relation to coronavirus diagnosis, those that matched with the 2019 China virus diagnosis clinical guide included Amyloid-A in the laboratory, 2019 novel coronavirus RNA, Eosinophil rate, Eosinophil count, and white blood cells (WBC). Overall, the method developed was accurate relative to COVID-19 prediction and diagnosis, upon which the rate of confirmed diagnosis could be improved and pave the way for timely clinical interventions.

Abstract: Teaching and learning have changed for teachers throughout the globe in 2020 due to the global pandemic. The decision to close schools and institutions of higher learning during the Movement Control Order (MCO) phase has caused novel challenges to teachers in confirming continuousness of the teaching and learning process. Teaching and learning process are just not confined within the four walls of a classroom but this process can be extended without being in the classroom. This study investigated ESL teachers’ strategies on English Language teaching during the movement control order at selected secondary schools in Malaysia. A descriptive case study design was employed in developing the study. Eight ESL teachers participated in the study on voluntary basis. Open ended questions were given to the teachers through WhatsApp to obtain feedback regarding their teaching strategies during the Movement Control Order (MCO). Thematic analysis was used to analyse teachers’ feedback obtained through the WhatsApp. The findings from the study showed that the ESL teachers have resorted to Telegram, WhatsApp, Google classroom and Zoom as to engage the students in the learning process during the movement control order. Teachers used various Apps such as Quizziz, Padlet and Kahoot to conduct online assessment after the teaching process ends. The findings indicate that the teachers have good mastery and knowledge of planning, executing, interacting, engaging and assessing students based on the apps used for instruction. Other related findings namely problems teachers encountered engaging students through the apps used, anxious over finishing the tasks in a short time and students’ attitude to cooperate were reported. The findings have some implications in terms of rethinking the English language teaching. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) to identify words that contain both processes and goals (conflated verb) through transitivity analysis.
Abstract: The pandemic COVID-19 encourages people to consume high nutritious food. We know that many traditional cuisines with high nutritious ingredients is passed from generation to generation verbally. We also can discover traditional cuisine with a linguistic approach. However, there are still no studies that explicitly use Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) to identify local wisdom related to high nutritious cooking. We propose SFL to identify words that contain both processes and goals (conflated verb) through transitivity analysis. Here, we study Angkola language to show how SFL reveals cuisine that is represented by a conflated verb. The analysis focuses on the transitivity of the SFL approach uses linguistically limited to mangholat verbs only coupled with health-wise with literature studies related to the health efficacy of food. The result exhibits that mangholat verb is part conflated verb of the material process that consists of two constituents (process and participant goal) in one word. The process constituents in the form of the morpheme {Mang-} 'make' shows a cooking process. The constituents of the participant goal of a holat, a noun word, is the cuisine name in Angkola language. We analyzed the word holat for the ingredient breakdown used in cooking the food e.g., Balakka (Phyllantus emblica L.) which is proven to improve human health. The SFL transitivity analysis is able to identify high nutritious cuisine of local wisdom. We expect our result to be a starting point for further study of the linguistic approach in discovering local wisdom related to nutritious cooking for humans.

TL;DR: This study aimed to describe the traditional use of rhizome galangal, itsPhytochemistry, its phytoconstituents, and its future prospects for identifying effective therapeutic compounds.
Abstract: Middle class people who live in rural or urban areas often find it difficult to access modern health services, so they more often use traditional medicines obtained from herbal plants that grow around them. Alpinia galanga (Zingiberaceae), often referred to as galangal, is one type of herbal plant that is widely grown in Asia. Many developing countries cultivate this plant, including Indonesia. This plant has a variety of benefits, ranging from being used as a food flavoring, which creates a distinctive aroma in cooking. This plant can also be used as a treatment for various diseases. Although the galangal rhizome is the most widely used and studied part of the plant, the flower on the galangal plant can also provide additional benefits because these flowers have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, although their chemical composition is different from parts of the galangal rhizome. This study, therefore, aimed to describe the traditional use of rhizome galangal, its phytochemistry, its phytoconstituents, and its future prospects for identifying effective therapeutic compounds.
