MRI differentiation of cardiomyopathy showing left ventricular hypertrophy and heart failure: differentiation between cardiac amyloidosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive heart disease

TL;DR: MRI is valuable for distinguishing among CA, end-stage HCM, and HHD, all of which present with LVH and heart failure, which are important etiologies of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) andheart failure.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of indapamide versus hydrochlorothiazide on ventricular and arterial function in patients with hypertension and diabetes: Results of a randomized trial

TL;DR: Indapamide was found to improve measures of endothelial and arterial functions and to increase longitudinal left ventricular function compared with hydrochlorothiazide in patients with hypertension and diabetes, after 6 months of treatment.

Neck circumference and early stage atherosclerosis: the cardiometabolic risk in Chinese (CRC) study

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors examined the association between neck circumference and early stage atherosclerosis in Chinese adults and found significant interaction between hypertension status and NC level in relation to carotid femoral PWV, adjusted for age, sex, BMI, fasting glucose, lipids and heart rate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Meal-induced blood pressure variation and cardiovascular mortality in ambulatory hypertensive elderly patients: preliminary results.

TL;DR: In this population of elderly patients without overt heart diseases, PPH was common and a diurnal standard deviation of SBP of 10 mmHg or higher was suggestive of its presence, and ABPM identified breakfast BP decrease as a possible new risk factor for cardiovascular mortality.
