Journal ArticleDOI

Leptin, adiponectin and vascular stiffness parameters in women with systemic lupus erythematosus

TL;DR: Higher values of leptin in SLE patients show increased levels of vascular stiffness and PSEM and reduced values of vascular strain and distensibility, which globally indicate a decline in arterial elasticity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System Blockade in Diabetic Nephropathy. Present Evidences

TL;DR: The theoretically-attractive option of combining these medications that target different points in the pathway, potentially offering a more complete RAAS blockade, has been tested in clinical trials, but long-term outcomes were disappointing.

Prediction models for the risk of new-onset hypertension in ethnic Chinese in Taiwan.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the point-based clinical model could be considered as the first step to identify high-risk populations for hypertension among Chinese.

Azelnidipine decreases sympathetic nerve activity via antioxidant effect in the rostral ventrolateral medulla of stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats

TL;DR: The results suggest that azelnidipine decreases an indicator of sympathetic nerve activity by antioxidant effect mediated through inhibition of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase activity and activation of superoxide dismutase in the RVLM of stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats.
