Associations between plasma homocysteine levels, aortic stiffness and wave reflection in patients with arterial hypertension, isolated office hypertension and normotensive controls.

TL;DR: This study points to an independent relationship between circulating homocysteine levels, aortic compliance andWave reflection, and the traditional factors affecting arterial stiffness and wave reflection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of intensive blood pressure lowering on mortality and cardiovascular and renal outcomes in type 2 diabetic patients: A meta-analysis

TL;DR: It is indicated that intensive BP lowering treatment provides greater benefits than less intensive treatment among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and further studies are required to more clearly evaluate the benefits and harms of BP targets below those currently recommended with intensive BP lowered treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ventricular repolarization in diabetic patients: characterization and clinical implications

TL;DR: It is concluded that diabetes causes prolongation and spatial dispersion of repolarization, and it may contribute to a greater ventricular electrical instability, whose expected clinical expression may be malignant ventricular arrhythmias.

Determinants of awareness, treatment and control of hypertension in a Portuguese population.

TL;DR: awareness of hypertension was more frequent in older subjects, those with high body mass index, diabetic women and women with high serum triglycerides, and lower among women who use private health care services, single/widowed/divorced men and among men with higher levels of alcohol consumption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cardiovascular changes in patients with primary aldosteronism after surgical or medical treatment

TL;DR: The data indicate that in patients with PA the removal of ALD excess by surgery in APA is effective in reducing blood pressure and in improving cardiac parameters, while anti-hypertensive therapy in BAH shows less positive impact on cardiovascular system.
