Prevalence, awareness, treatment and control of hypertension in an elderly population in Greece.

TL;DR: The findings indicate that hypertension is highly prevalent in this Greek elderly population and Similarly high is the awareness and treatment of hypertension, however, the control rates were relatively low, suggesting that the local health system requires a greater orientation to the prevention and control of hypertension.

Tight Versus Standard Blood Pressure Control in Patients With Hypertension With and Without Cardiovascular Disease

TL;DR: An intensive treatment aimed to lower systolic BP<130 mm Hg reduced left ventricular hypertrophy and improved clinical outcomes to a similar extent in patients with hypertension and without established cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Correlation between glucose fluctuations and carotid intima-media thickness in type 2 diabetes

TL;DR: It is suggested that glucose fluctuations may accelerate atherogenesis in older type 2 diabetic patients who had a longer duration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regression of superficial glomerular podocyte injury in type 2 diabetic rats with overt albuminuria: effect of angiotensin II blockade.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated for the first time that juxtamedullary glomerular podocyte injury reaches a severe condition at an earlier time than superficial glomersular podocytes injury during the progression of overt albuminuria in type 2 diabetic rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monitoring Initial Response to Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor–Based Regimens: An Individual Patient Data Meta-Analysis From Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trials

TL;DR: Most of the apparent variation in response is not because of true variation but is a consequence of background within-person fluctuation in day-to-day blood pressure levels, and a better approach may be to simply assume the mean treatment effect.
