Efficacy and safety of sunitinib in the treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma

TL;DR: The results of this study demonstrate the efficacy and manageable adverse event profile of sunitinib as a single agent in first‐ or second‐line therapy for patients with metastatic clear cell RCC and suggest hypertension may be a strong predictive marker for treatment efficacy in metastatic RCC.

Association of a prothrombotic state with left-ventricular diastolic dysfunction in hypertension: a tissue-Doppler imaging study.

TL;DR: Elevated plasma levels of fibrinogen and a prothrombotic state are associated with the presence of left-ventricular diastolic dysfunction in hypertensive patients with no evidence of ischemic heart disease and might increase the risk of diastolics heart failure.

Attenuated brain-derived neurotrophic factor and hypertrophic remodelling: the SABPA study.

TL;DR: Attenuated or possible downregulated BDNF levels were associated with hypertrophic remodelling, and may be a compensatory mechanism for the higher BP in Africans, and underpin different underlying mechanisms for impaired neurotrophin homeostasis in men and women.

The corporate bias and the molding of prescription practices: the case of hypertension

TL;DR: Drug management of hypertension has been a noticeable example of the influence of the pharmaceutical industry on prescription practices, and guidelines have incorporated the corporate bias from the original studies, and the evidence from better designed studies, such as the ALLHAT trial, have been largely ignored.
