Transcatheter or surgical repair for degenerative mitral regurgitation in elderly patients: A propensity-weighted analysis

TL;DR: In elderly patients affected by DMR and STS-PROM <8%, the average effect of MitraClip resulted in lower acute postoperative complications and improved 1-year survival compared with surgery, but in the setting of operable patients with life expectancy beyond 1 year, the quality bar for transcatheter mitral repair needs to be raised.
