TLDR
A flow cytometric method for measuring the percentage of apoptotic nuclei after propidium iodide staining in hypotonic buffer is developed and shown an excellent correlation with the results obtained with both electrophoretic and colorimetric methods.About:

Effects of germinated brown rice extracts with enhanced levels of GABA on cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis.
Chan-Ho Oh,Suk-Heung Oh +1 more
TL;DR: Results show that brown rice extracts with enhanced levels of GABA have an inhibitory action on leukemia cell proliferation and have a stimulatory action on the cancer cell apoptosis.

Redox regulation of apoptosis: Impact of thiol oxidation status on mitochondrial function
Philippe Marchetti,Didier Decaudin,Antonio Macho,Naoufal Zamzami,Tamara Hirsch,Santos A. Susin,Guido Kroemer +6 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that thymocyte apoptosis induced by diamide mimics natural apoptosis in the sense that mitochondrial transmembrane potential disruption precedes nuclear chromatin degradation, and suggest that, at least in some pathways of apoptosis, mitochondrial thiols constitute a critical sensor of the cellular redox potential.

Characterization of a New Humanized Anti-CD20 Monoclonal Antibody, IMMU-106, and Its Use in Combination with the Humanized Anti-CD22 Antibody, Epratuzumab, for the Therapy of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Rhona Stein,Zhengxing Qu,Susan Chen,Adriane V. Rosario,Victoria Shi,Marianne K. Hayes,Ivan Horak,Hans J. Hansen,David M. Goldenberg +8 more
TL;DR: It is expected that in humans IMMU-106 should be at least as effective as rituximab and, due to its human framework construction, it may exhibit different pharmacokinetic, toxicity, and therapy profiles.

Induction of apoptosis by bexarotene in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma cells: relevance to mechanism of therapeutic action.
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of bexarotene on induction of apoptosis and expression of its cognate receptors in well-established CTCL cell lines (MJ, Hut78, and HH) were examined.

Global changes in gene expression by human polymorphonuclear leukocytes during receptor-mediated phagocytosis: Cell fate is regulated at the level of gene expression
TL;DR: Different patterns of receptor-mediated gene expression are revealed that define complex inducible apoptotic pathways in activated PMNs and it is discovered that programmed cell death is regulated at the level of gene expression.

A study of the conditions and mechanism of the diphenylamine reaction for the colorimetric estimation of deoxyribonucleic acid
TL;DR: The present study arose from the observation that a more intense colour was sometimes produced if, instead of being heated at 1000 for 10 min., the reaction mixture was allowed to stand overnight at room temperature.

Cell death : the significance of apoptosis
TL;DR: It has proved feasible to categorize most if not all dying cells into one or the other of two discrete and distinctive patterns of morphological change, which have, generally, been found to occur under disparate but individually characteristic circumstances.

Monoclonal antibody-mediated tumor regression by induction of apoptosis
B. C. Trauth,C. Klas,Anke M.J. Peters,Siegfried Matzku,Peter Möller,Werner Falk,Klaus-Michael Debatin,Peter H. Krammer +7 more
TL;DR: Histological thin sections of the regressing tumor showed that anti-APO-1 was able to induce apoptosis in vivo, suggesting induction of apoptosis as a consequence of a signal mediated through cell surface molecules like APO- 1 may be a useful therapeutic approach in treatment of malignancy.

Chromatin cleavage in apoptosis: association with condensed chromatin morphology and dependence on macromolecular synthesis.
TL;DR: The data confirm that the condensed chromatin which characterizes apoptosis morphologically consists of endogenously digested chromatin fragments, and provide support for the view that at least some cells enter apoptosis by a process dependent upon macromolecular synthesis.
