Combined chemical, physical and biological treatment using Chlorella vulgaris sp. on landfill leachate

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual purpose method to treat the leachate by incorporating Chlorella vulgaris sp. culturing in 100% pre-treated landfill leachates by physico-chemical treatment was explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of Anaerobic Digestion Effluent and Secondary Treated Sewage Plant Discharge for Algal Cultivation and Prevention of Algal Pond Crash

TL;DR: Nakai et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a method to improve the efficiency of nuclear power development by using a nuclear power plant in the first place of the nuclear power station in Japan.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhancement of lipid productivity of Chlorella protothecoides cultivated in secondary wastewater under nitrogen starvation through optimization of environmental factors

TL;DR: Under optimum operating conditions, removal efficiency of total phosphorous and Chemical Oxygen Demand were 100 and 70, respectively, and highest carbon fixation rate of 549.16 mg CO2/(L.day) was observed.

Studies of marine planktonic diatoms: i. cyclotella nana hustedt, and detonula confervacea (cleve) gran.

TL;DR: Bacteria-free clones of the small centric diatom Cyclotella nana Hustedt were isolated, three from estuarine localities, one from Continental Shelf waters, and one from the Sargasso Sea as mentioned in this paper.

Determination of accurate extinction coefficients and simultaneous equations for assaying chlorophylls a and b extracted with four different solvents: verification of the concentration of chlorophyll standards by atomic absorption spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the extinction coefficients for chlorophylls a and b in diethylether (Smith, J.H. and Benitez, A.V., eds.), used in this paper as primary standards, were verified by magnesium determination using atomic absorbance spectrophotometry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cultivation of green algae Chlorella sp. in different wastewaters from municipal wastewater treatment plant.

TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that growing algae in nutrient-rich centrate offers a new option of applying algal process in MWTP to manage the nutrient load for the aeration tank to which the centrate is returned, serving the dual roles of nutrient reduction and valuable biofuel feedstock production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Life-cycle analysis on biodiesel production from microalgae: Water footprint and nutrients balance

TL;DR: The results confirm the competitiveness of microalgae-based biofuels and highlight the necessity of recycling harvested water and using sea/wastewater as water source and the need of all the nutrients except phosphate.
