TLDR
The GLOBOCAN series of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as mentioned in this paper provides estimates of the worldwide incidence and mortality from 27 major cancers and for all cancers combined for 2012.Abstract:
Estimates of the worldwide incidence and mortality from 27 major cancers and for all cancers combined for 2012 are now available in the GLOBOCAN series of the International Agency for Research on Cancer. We review the sources and methods used in compiling the national cancer incidence and mortality estimates, and briefly describe the key results by cancer site and in 20 large “areas” of the world. Overall, there were 14.1 million new cases and 8.2 million deaths in 2012. The most commonly diagnosed cancers were lung (1.82 million), breast (1.67 million), and colorectal (1.36 million); the most common causes of cancer death were lung cancer (1.6 million deaths), liver cancer (745,000 deaths), and stomach cancer (723,000 deaths).read more

TL;DR: The results are consistent with those of KEYNOTE-224, supporting a favorable risk-to-benefit ratio for pembrolizumab in this population, and one-sided significance thresholds for OS and PFS did not reach statistical significance per specified criteria.

TL;DR: It is shown that the presence of circulating tumor DNA in a patient’s blood after surgery is a sign of persistent tumor and a greatly increased risk of relapse, suggesting that this group of patients may require chemotherapy to prevent recurrence.

TL;DR: Several factors should be considered during counseling/management of patients with clinically localized renal masses, including general health/comorbidities, oncologic potential of the mass, pertinent functional issues and relative efficacy/potential morbidities of various management strategies.
The burden of primary liver cancer and underlying etiologies from 1990 to 2015 at the global, regional, and national level.
TL;DR: The results show that most cases of liver cancer can be prevented through vaccination, antiviral treatment, safe blood transfusion and injection practices, as well as interventions to reduce excessive alcohol use.

Integrated genomic and molecular characterization of cervical cancer
TL;DR: The extensive molecular characterization of 228 primary cervical cancers is reported, one of the largest comprehensive genomic studies of cervical cancer to date, and novel significantly mutated genes in cervical cancer are identified, revealing new potential therapeutic targets for cervical cancers.
