Distinguishing the relative impacts of climate change and human activities on variation of streamflow in the Poyang Lake catchment, China
TLDR
In this article, the characteristics of hydro-climatic changes of the Poyang Lake catchment were analyzed based on the observed data for the period 1960-2007, and the relative effect of climate change and human activities was first empirically distinguished by a coupled water and energy budgets analysis, and then the result was further confirmed by a quantitative assessment.About:

An investigation of enhanced recessions in Poyang Lake: Comparison of Yangtze River and local catchment impacts
TL;DR: In this paper, a physically-based hydrodynamic model was employed to explore catchment and Yangtze River controls on the Poyang Lake's hydrology, and it was shown that changes in lake hydrological regimes and the associated impacts on water supplies and ecosystems are internationally recognized issues.

Separating the impacts of climate change and human activities on streamflow: A review of methodologies and critical assumptions
Pankaj Dey,Ashok K. Mishra +1 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive review of different approaches used by research community to isolate the impacts of climate change and human activities on streamflow is presented in this paper, where the important issues pertaining to different approaches, to make rational use of methodology, are discussed so that researcher and policymaker can understand the importance of individual methodology and its use in water resources management.

Water Quality Assessment and Pollution Source Identification of the Eastern Poyang Lake Basin Using Multivariate Statistical Methods
TL;DR: In this paper, multivariate statistical methods including cluster analysis (CA), discriminant analysis (DA), and component analysis/factor analysis (PCA/FA) were applied to explore the surface water quality datasets including 14 parameters at 28 sites of the Eastern Poyang Lake Basin, Jiangxi Province of China, from January 2012 to April 2015, characterize spatiotemporal variation in pollution and identify potential pollution sources.

Has the Three-Gorges Dam made the Poyang Lake wetlands wetter and drier?
TL;DR: Using extensive hydrological data and generalized linear statistical models, Wang et al. as discussed by the authors demonstrated that the Three-Georges Dam operation induces major changes in the downstream river discharge near the dam, including an average "water loss".
Journal ArticleDOI
Detecting the quantitative hydrological response to changes in climate and human activities.
TL;DR: This study systematically review ten commonly used quantitative methods drawn from three main categories-empirical statistics, elasticity-based methods, and hydrological modeling and shows that climate change played a dominant role in the decline in runoff in the Yanhe River basin.

TL;DR: It is found that notwithstanding the clear warming that has occurred in China in recent decades, current understanding does not allow a clear assessment of the impact of anthropogenic climate change on China’s water resources and agriculture and therefore China's ability to feed its people.

Response of mean annual evapotranspiration to vegetation changes at catchment scale
TL;DR: In this article, a simple two-parameter model was developed that relates mean annual evapotranspiration to rainfall, potential evapOTranspiration, and plant-available water capacity.
