Solid focal liver lesions indeterminate by contrast-enhanced CT or MR imaging: the added diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound
TL;DR: CEUS with low transmit power insonation allows the real-time assessment of contrast enhancement in a focal liver lesion after microbubble contrast agent injection, during the arterial, portal venous and late phase and can be considered a complementary imaging technique to CT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound of the spleen: an introduction and pictorial essay.
TL;DR: The role of ultrasound contrast in splenic disease will be discussed and illustrated with cases likely to be encountered by general and abdominal radiologists.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and off-label use (in children).
TL;DR: Clinical recommendations on the use of contrast enhanced ul trasound (CEUS) are based on comprehensive lite rature surveys, including results from pro spective clinical trials, and incorporate many indications currently off-label.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contrast-enhanced sonography in blunt scrotal trauma().
TL;DR: The findings demonstrate that CEUS is appreciably more sensitive in detecting damage caused by blunt scrotal trauma, particularly small lesions, and useful for differential diagnosis and marginalization of corpuscular fluid collections, fractures, and above all ruptures, which require immediate surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activity-based cost analysis of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) related to the diagnostic impact in focal liver lesion characterisation
TL;DR: CEUS determined a change in the diagnostic and therapeutic workup in the characterisation of focal liver lesions and reduced the full costs of the diagnostic process.

New Guidelines to Evaluate the Response to Treatment in Solid Tumors
Patrick Therasse,Susan G. Arbuck,Elizabeth Eisenhauer,Jantien Wanders,Richard Kaplan,Larry Rubinstein,Jaap Verweij,Martine Van Glabbeke,Allan T. van Oosterom,Michaele C. Christian,S. Gwyther +10 more
TL;DR: A model by which a combined assessment of all existing lesions, characterized by target lesions and nontarget lesions, is used to extrapolate an overall response to treatment is proposed, which is largely validated by the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors Group and integrated into the present guidelines.

Percutaneous radio-frequency ablation of hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer: long-term results in 117 patients.
Luigi Solbiati,Tito Livraghi,S N Goldberg,T. Ierace,Meloni F,M. Dellanoce,Luca Cova,Elkan F. Halpern,G S Gazelle +8 more
TL;DR: RF ablation is an effective method to treat hepatic metastases from colorectal carcinoma and Frequency and time to local recurrence were related to lesion size (P < or =.001).

Tito Livraghi,S. Nahum Goldberg,Sergio Lazzaroni,Franca Meloni,Tiziana Ierace,Luigi Solbiati,G. Scott Gazelle +6 more
TL;DR: RF ablation appears to be an effective, safe, and relatively simple procedure for the treatment of medium and large HCCs in patients with cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis.

Percutaneous RF interstitial thermal ablation in the treatment of hepatic cancer.
Sandro Rossi,M. Di Stasi,Elisabetta Buscarini,Pietro Quaretti,Francesco Garbagnati,L. Squassante,C. Paties,D E Silverman,Luigi Buscarini +8 more
TL;DR: RF interstitial thermal ablation is a useful percutaneous treatment for hepatic cancer and in the patients treated for metastatic nodules, posttreatment imaging studies showed necrosis that varied from 80% to 100% in all cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulse inversion Doppler: a new method for detecting nonlinear echoes from microbubble contrast agents
TL;DR: In vitro measurements comparing flowing agent and cellulose particles suggest that pulse inversion Doppler can provide 3 to 10 dB more agent to tissue contrast than harmonic imaging with similar pulses, and in vitro measurements suggest that broadband pulse inverts can provide up to 16 dB more contrast than broadband conventional Dopplers.
