Guidelines and good clinical practice recommendations for Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) in the liver - update 2012: A WFUMB-EFSUMB initiative in cooperation with representatives of AFSUMB, AIUM, ASUM, FLAUS and ICUS.

TL;DR: These liver CEUS guidelines and recommendations are intended to create standard protocols for the use and administration of UCA in liver applications on an international basis and improve the management of patients worldwide.
Journal ArticleDOI

The EFSUMB guidelines and recommendations for the clinical practice of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in Non-Hepatic Applications: Update 2017 (Long Version)

TL;DR: The updated version of the EFSUMB guidelines on the application of non-hepatic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) deals with the use of microbubble ultrasound contrast outside the liver in the many established and emerging applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

The diagnostic and economic impact of contrast imaging techniques in the diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhosis

TL;DR: In patients with cirrhosis with a 1–2 cm nodule detected during surveillance, a single imaging technique showing a typical contrast pattern confidently permits the diagnosis of HCC, thereby reducing the need for FNB examinations.

Evaluation using contrast-enhanced harmonic gray scale sonography after radio frequency ablation of small hepatocellular carcinoma: sonographic-histopathologic correlation.

TL;DR: To evaluate the usefulness of contrast‐enhanced harmonic wideband gray scale sonographic images obtained after radio frequency–induced coagulation necrosis, this work compared the morphologic and histopathologic characteristics of the ablated tumors with sonography images of the tumors.

Simultaneous Voiding Cystourethrography and Voiding Urosonography

TL;DR: A dependable comparison could be achieved by performing VCUG and VUS at the same time and under the same conditions and reconfirmed that VUS is reliable in the exclusion or verification of reflux.

Low contrast dose voiding urosonography in children with phase inversion imaging.

TL;DR: VUS using PI mode provided considerably stronger and longer enhancement and slightly improved the detection of VUR and allowed a reduction of contrast dose and cost by approximately 35% over current dose recommendations for fundamental US.
Journal ArticleDOI

Imaging techniques for the detection of vesicoureteric reflux: what and when?

TL;DR: Attitudes toward the genetic testing of children among adults in a Utah-based kindred tested for BRCA1 and attitudes towards gene testing in Alport diseases: medical and ethical considerations are studied.

Characterization of focal liver lesions with pulse inversion harmonic imaging (PIHI) using a second generation US contrast agent.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the liver parenchymal enhancement patterns during different vascular phases as in contrast helical CT (HCT) and showed that BR1 (SonoVueTM, Bracco, Milan, Italy) belongs to the second generation of US contrast agents and is based on phospholipid-stabilized sulfur hexafluoride microbubbles, which provide a higher resistance to US pulse pressure and a longer persistence in the bloodstream than first generation agents.
