Journal ArticleDOI
Can contrast enhanced ultrasound differentiate intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma from hepatocellular carcinoma
TL;DR: Rim APHE is a key predictor for differentiating ICC from LR-M HCC, and early washout and marked washout have limited value for the differentiation between the two entities.

Microwave ablation of large HCC lesions: Added value of CEUS examinations for ablation success control.
B Pregler,Lukas Philipp Beyer,Isabel Wiesinger,C Nießen,E.M. Jung,Christian Stroszczynski,P Wiggermann +6 more
TL;DR: CEUS allows a reliable assessment of therapeutic success of percutaneous ablation of large HCC lesions one day after the ablation, and its ability to visualize reactive periablation perfusion changes in real-time might be of advantage in the depiction of residual tumor tissue when compared to MRI imaging alone.

Subdermal Ultrasound Contrast Agent Injection for Sentinel Lymph Node Identification: An Analysis of Safety and Contrast Agent Dose in Healthy Volunteers
Priscilla Machado,Maria Stanczak,Ji-Bin Liu,Jason N. Moore,John R. Eisenbrey,Laurence Needleman,Walter K. Kraft,Flemming Forsberg +7 more
TL;DR: The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of subdermal administration of the ultrasound (US) contrast agent Sonazoid (GE Healthcare, Oslo, Norway) in terms of patient safety and to select the dose to be used for lymphatic applications in humans.

Evaluating biliary anatomy and variations in living liver donors by a new technique: three-dimensional contrast-enhanced ultrasonic cholangiography
Rongqin Zheng,Gui-hua Chen,Erjiao Xu,Ren Mao,Min-qiang Lu,Mei Liao,Jie Ren,Li Kai,Shu-hong Yi +8 more
TL;DR: 3-D CEUSC may be a potential alternative to IOC in the evaluation of biliary anatomical variation before graft harvesting in LDLT and is evaluated by injecting microbubble contrast agents into the common hepatic ducts intraoperatively.

New Guidelines to Evaluate the Response to Treatment in Solid Tumors
Patrick Therasse,Susan G. Arbuck,Elizabeth Eisenhauer,Jantien Wanders,Richard Kaplan,Larry Rubinstein,Jaap Verweij,Martine Van Glabbeke,Allan T. van Oosterom,Michaele C. Christian,S. Gwyther +10 more
TL;DR: A model by which a combined assessment of all existing lesions, characterized by target lesions and nontarget lesions, is used to extrapolate an overall response to treatment is proposed, which is largely validated by the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors Group and integrated into the present guidelines.

Percutaneous radio-frequency ablation of hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer: long-term results in 117 patients.
Luigi Solbiati,Tito Livraghi,S N Goldberg,T. Ierace,Meloni F,M. Dellanoce,Luca Cova,Elkan F. Halpern,G S Gazelle +8 more
TL;DR: RF ablation is an effective method to treat hepatic metastases from colorectal carcinoma and Frequency and time to local recurrence were related to lesion size (P < or =.001).

Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Radio-frequency Ablation of Medium and Large Lesions
Tito Livraghi,S. Nahum Goldberg,Sergio Lazzaroni,Franca Meloni,Tiziana Ierace,Luigi Solbiati,G. Scott Gazelle +6 more
TL;DR: RF ablation appears to be an effective, safe, and relatively simple procedure for the treatment of medium and large HCCs in patients with cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis.

Percutaneous RF interstitial thermal ablation in the treatment of hepatic cancer.
Sandro Rossi,M. Di Stasi,Elisabetta Buscarini,Pietro Quaretti,Francesco Garbagnati,L. Squassante,C. Paties,D E Silverman,Luigi Buscarini +8 more
TL;DR: RF interstitial thermal ablation is a useful percutaneous treatment for hepatic cancer and in the patients treated for metastatic nodules, posttreatment imaging studies showed necrosis that varied from 80% to 100% in all cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulse inversion Doppler: a new method for detecting nonlinear echoes from microbubble contrast agents
TL;DR: In vitro measurements comparing flowing agent and cellulose particles suggest that pulse inversion Doppler can provide 3 to 10 dB more agent to tissue contrast than harmonic imaging with similar pulses, and in vitro measurements suggest that broadband pulse inverts can provide up to 16 dB more contrast than broadband conventional Dopplers.
