A great deal of research has been carried out on lanthanide organic complex-based organic-inorganic hybrid materials in the last decade. This critical review begins with a formulation of the fundamentals of lanthanide organic complex luminescence, and presents various current designed ideas, synthetic routes, luminescence behaviors and potentials of the latest advanced (a) sol-gel materials, (b) mesoporous materials, (c) titania materials, (d) ionic liquids and ionogels, (e) polymers, and (f) bifunctional magnetic-optical composites based on lanthanide organic complexes. Finally, challenges and opportunities for further improvement of organic-inorganic hybrid luminescent materials based on lanthanide organic complexes will be discussed.read more

Aryl ethers coupled pyridoxal as supramolecular gelator for selective sensing of F
Kumaresh Ghosh,Chiranjit Pati +1 more
TL;DR: Aryl ethers coupled pyridoxal Schiff base 1 has been synthesized and its gelation properties have been examined in this paper, where the gel matrix obtained from DMSO shows ribbon-like fibrous morphology and has been utilized for efficient naked eye detection of fluoride ion through a reversible gel-sol transition, which is associated with color change from almost colorless to yellow.

Lanthanide loading of luminescent multi-tridentate polymers under thermodynamic control.
TL;DR: The use of basic statistical mechanics for rationalizing the loading of linear multitridentate polymers with trivalent lanthanides, Ln(III), is illustrated, and the specific ionic sizes of europium and yttrium are identified as promising candidates for the further design of organized heterometallic f–f′ materials.

A Theory of Sensitized Luminescence in Solids
TL;DR: In this article, the resonance theory of Forster, which involves only allowed transitions, is extended to include transfer by means of forbidden transitions which, it is concluded, are responsible for the transfer in all inorganic systems yet investigated.
