Abstract
A great deal of research has been carried out on lanthanide organic complex-based organic-inorganic hybrid materials in the last decade. This critical review begins with a formulation of the fundamentals of lanthanide organic complex luminescence, and presents various current designed ideas, synthetic routes, luminescence behaviors and potentials of the latest advanced (a) sol-gel materials, (b) mesoporous materials, (c) titania materials, (d) ionic liquids and ionogels, (e) polymers, and (f) bifunctional magnetic-optical composites based on lanthanide organic complexes. Finally, challenges and opportunities for further improvement of organic-inorganic hybrid luminescent materials based on lanthanide organic complexes will be discussed.

Survival and reduction in foodborne bacteria using methyl cellulose film doped with europium oxide nanoparticles.

TL;DR: The study validated the efficacy of methyl cellulose films doped with different concentration of Eu2O3 nanoparticles to inactivate foodborne pathogens and found a significant lower count of E. coli, S. aureus, and S. typhimurium inoculated in MC films dopes compared with pure MC film.

Multi-component hybrids of surfactant functionalized europium tetrakis (β-diketonate) in MCM-41(m) and polymer modified ZnO for luminescence integration

TL;DR: In this article, the photoluminescence properties of multi-component photofunctional hybrid materials are investigated in the presence of methacrylic-group-modified ZnO nanoparticles and copolymerization reaction between MAA and DMDA units.

A versatile platform for lanthanide(III)-containing organogelators: fabrication of the Er(III)-incorporated polymer nanocomposite from an organogel template

TL;DR: A versatile coordination structure for lanthanide(III) ions has been demonstrated in this article, where Er(III)-containing polymer nanocomposite was fabricated from an organogel template via post-gelation polymerisation, showing an enhanced NIR emission.

A Theory of Sensitized Luminescence in Solids

TL;DR: In this article, the resonance theory of Forster, which involves only allowed transitions, is extended to include transfer by means of forbidden transitions which, it is concluded, are responsible for the transfer in all inorganic systems yet investigated.
