Introduction to Magnetic Materials

TLDR
In this paper, the authors present materials at the practical rather than theoretical level, allowing for a physical, quantitative, measurement-based understanding of magnetism among readers, be they professional engineers or graduate-level students.
Abstract
Introduction to Magnetic Materials, 2nd Edition covers the basics of magnetic quantities, magnetic devices, and materials used in practice. While retaining much of the original, this revision now covers SQUID and alternating gradient magnetometers, magnetic force microscope, Kerr effect, amorphous alloys, rare-earth magnets, SI Units alongside cgs units, and other up-to-date topics. In addition, the authors have added an entirely new chapter on information materials. The text presents materials at the practical rather than theoretical level, allowing for a physical, quantitative, measurement-based understanding of magnetism among readers, be they professional engineers or graduate-level students.

Magnetic-plasmonic nanoparticles for the life sciences: calculated optical properties of hybrid structures.

TL;DR: The results indicate that in the advantageous near-infrared region (NIR), although magnetic-plasmonic nanospheres produced by available chemical methods lack the desirable tunability of optical characteristics, magnetite-gold nanorods can achieve the desired optical properties at chemically attainable dimensions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energetical and multiscale approaches for the definition of an equivalent stress for magneto-elastic couplings

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a generalized equivalent stress formulation for orthotropic media under disoriented magneto-mechanical loading, which is based on an equivalence in magnetization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Barium ferrite powders prepared by microwave-induced hydrothermal reaction and magnetic property

TL;DR: In this article, a microwave-induced hydrothermal method was used to obtain barium ferrite particles with unusually low thickness and the magnetic properties of barium-ferrite particles were discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Voltage-induced modification in magnetic coercivity of patterned Co50Fe50 thin film on piezoelectric substrate

TL;DR: In this paper, a controlled modulation of magnetic properties through the inverse piezoelectric (PE) effect was investigated by means of the magneto-optical Kerr effect magnetometry in a periodic array of ferromagnetic (FM) Co 50 Fe 50 stripes patterned on a commercial PE substrate.

A magnetoelastic torque transducer utilizing a ring divided into two oppositely polarized circumferential regions

TL;DR: In this article, a transducer is divided into two equal width regions having oppositely directed circumferential magnetizations, and each region effectively becomes a single domain separated from the other only by a centrally located 180° domain wall.
