Introduction to Magnetic Materials
B. D. Cullity,C. D. Graham +1 more
TLDR
In this paper, the authors present materials at the practical rather than theoretical level, allowing for a physical, quantitative, measurement-based understanding of magnetism among readers, be they professional engineers or graduate-level students.Abstract:
Introduction to Magnetic Materials, 2nd Edition covers the basics of magnetic quantities, magnetic devices, and materials used in practice. While retaining much of the original, this revision now covers SQUID and alternating gradient magnetometers, magnetic force microscope, Kerr effect, amorphous alloys, rare-earth magnets, SI Units alongside cgs units, and other up-to-date topics. In addition, the authors have added an entirely new chapter on information materials. The text presents materials at the practical rather than theoretical level, allowing for a physical, quantitative, measurement-based understanding of magnetism among readers, be they professional engineers or graduate-level students.read more

Size effects on switching field of isolated and interactive arrays of nanoscale single‐domain Ni bars fabricated using electron‐beam nanolithography
Mark S. Wei,Stephen Y. Chou +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, isolated nanoscale Ni bars with a length of 1 μm, a width from 15 to 300 nm, and interactive bar arrays with a spacing from 200 to 600 nm were fabricated using electron-beam lithography and were studied using magnetic force microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic properties of nanometer-size CoPt particles
TL;DR: In this article, isolated CoPt particles with magnetic coercivity as high as 30 kOe were obtained by annealing thin films in the temperature range of 550-800 °C.

Micromagnetics of rare-earth efficient permanent magnets
Johann Fischbacher,Alexander Kovacs,Markus Gusenbauer,Harald Oezelt,Lukas Exl,Lukas Exl,Simon Bance,Thomas Schrefl +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the potential of rare-earth reduced and free permanent magnets is investigated using micromagnetic simulations, and the results show excellent hard magnetic properties can be achieved in grain boundary engineered NdFeB, rare earth magnets with a ThMn12 structure, Co-based nano-wires, and L10-FeNi provided that the magnet's microstructure is optimized.
