TLDR
This work aims to provide a stepwise strategy for management of gastric cancer applicable to different levels of health-care resources in Asian countries, using the categories of basic, limited, enhanced, and maximum level.Abstract:
Summary Gastric cancer is the fourth most common cancer globally, and is the second most common cause of death from cancer worldwide. About three-quarters of newly diagnosed cases in 2008 were from Asian countries. With a high mortality-to-incidence ratio, management of gastric cancer is challenging. We discuss evidence for optimum management of gastric cancer in aspects of screening and early detection, diagnosis, and staging; endoscopic and surgical intervention; and the concepts of perioperative, postoperative, and palliative chemotherapy and use of molecularly targeted therapy. Recommendations are formulated on the basis of the framework provided by the Breast Health Global Initiative, using the categories of basic, limited, enhanced, and maximum level. We aim to provide a stepwise strategy for management of gastric cancer applicable to different levels of health-care resources in Asian countries.read more

TL;DR: Elevated LNR was significantly associated with advanced pN stage, larger primary tumor size, the presence of microvascular invasion, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy, which indicates that patients with lower LNR and single liver metastasis may gain more survival benefits from the surgical resection.

Upregulated long intergenic noncoding RNA KRT18P55 acts as a novel biomarker for the progression of intestinal-type gastric cancer
TL;DR: Upregulated KRT18P55 was a novel biomarker for the progression of GC, especially for the intestinal type, and showed potential diagnostic value for GC.

Upregulation of microRNA-132 in gastric cancer promotes cell proliferation via retinoblastoma 1 targeting
TL;DR: The present results indicate that the miR‑132/RB1 regulatory axis may be a potential novel diagnostic and therapeutic target for the treatment of gastric cancer.

TL;DR: It is revealed that 12-LOX functions as an oncogene in promoting GC cell proliferation and metastasis in vitro and in vivo and might regulate the EMT via the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, indicating a potential role for 12- LOX as a target in GC treatment.

TL;DR: Characterization of this orthotopic GC model and metastasis patterns in LNs and major organs should aid in the preclinical GC research regarding the metastatic mechanism and drug development.
