Mechanical Behavior of Materials
TLDR
A balanced mechanics-materials approach and coverage of the latest developments in biomaterials and electronic materials, the new edition of this popular text is the most thorough and modern book available for upper-level undergraduate courses on the mechanical behavior of materials as discussed by the authors.Abstract:
A balanced mechanics-materials approach and coverage of the latest developments in biomaterials and electronic materials, the new edition of this popular text is the most thorough and modern book available for upper-level undergraduate courses on the mechanical behavior of materials To ensure that the student gains a thorough understanding the authors present the fundamental mechanisms that operate at micro- and nano-meter level across a wide-range of materials, in a way that is mathematically simple and requires no extensive knowledge of materials This integrated approach provides a conceptual presentation that shows how the microstructure of a material controls its mechanical behavior, and this is reinforced through extensive use of micrographs and illustrations New worked examples and exercises help the student test their understanding Further resources for this title, including lecture slides of select illustrations and solutions for exercises, are available online at wwwcambridgeorg/97800521866758read more

Strength and ductility of gradient structured copper obtained by surface mechanical attrition treatment
Zhe Yin,Xincheng Yang,Xiaolong Ma,Jordan Moering,Jian Yang,Yulan Gong,Yuntian Zhu,Yuntian Zhu,Xinkun Zhu +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) at room temperature to generate a gradient structure in the surface layer of bulk pure copper samples, which exhibits good uniform elongation and high yield strength simultaneously.

Characterization of a glass-ceramic produced from thermal power plant fly ashes
TL;DR: In this article, a fly ash-based glass-ceramic material was developed from fly ash samples obtained from Cayirhan Thermal Power Plant in Turkey and the results of the Vickers microhardness tests indicated that the hardness values of the fly ash based glassceramic decreased with the increases in holding time at the nucleation temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple constitutive model for predicting flow stress of medium carbon microalloyed steel during hot deformation
TL;DR: In this paper, the constitutive behavior of a medium carbon microalloyed steel during hot working over a wide range of temperatures and strain rates was studied using the Johnson-Cook (JC) model, the Hollomon equation, and their modifications.
