Characterization and implications of Ca2+ binding to pectate lyase C

TL;DR: Crystallographic analyses of 11 PelC-Ca2+complexes and calculations of pKa values suggest that the primary Ca2+ ion in PelC has multiple functions, which is essential for in vitro activity of Erwinia chrysanthemi pectate lyase C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pretreatment of pectic wastewater from orange canning process by an alkalophilic Bacillus sp.

TL;DR: The bacterial pretreatment for more effective activated-sludge treatment of pectic wastewater from orange-canning factories decreased the uronic acid of the wastewater by 91%, when supplemented with Polypepton, yeast extract, soybean powder, phosphorus and potassium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fiber surface characterization of old newsprint pulp deinked by combining hemicellulase with laccase-mediator system

TL;DR: It was found that O/C ratio of the fiber surface increased and the surface coverage of lignin decreased during the hemicellulase/LMS deinking process, and ESEM observations showed that more fibrils appeared on the Fiber surface due to synergistic treatment.
