Electrical Vehicle Design and Modeling

Erik Schaltz
TL;DR: This chapter will be on the modeling and design of the power system of a battery electric vehicle, and less attention will be put on the selection of each component (electric machines, power electronics, batteries, etc.), as this is a very big task in it self.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Design and Control Principles of Hybrid Braking System for EV, HEV and FCV

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the braking energy characteristics on vehicle speed and braking power in typical urban driving cycles and provided strong support to the design and control of a hybrid braking system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient Exhaustive Search of Power-Split Hybrid Powertrains With Multiple Planetary Gears and Clutches

TL;DR: In this paper, an automated modeling and screening process is developed to enable an exhaustive but fast search for optimal designs among a large number of hardware configurations, clutch locations, and mode selections, combining this process with the power-weighted efficiency analysis for rapid sizing method (PEARS), an optimal and computationally efficient energy management strategy, the extremely large design space of configuration, component sizing and control becomes feasible to search through.
Journal ArticleDOI

The optimal subsidy on electric vehicles in German metropolitan areas: A spatial general equilibrium analysis☆

TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal power tax in a spatial model of a city with two zones where commuting, carbon emissions, endogenous labor supply, fuel and power taxes are considered is analyzed. And the results show that electric vehicles should not be subsidized but taxed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-objective genetic optimization of the fuel cell hybrid vehicle supervisory system: Fuzzy logic and operating mode control strategies

TL;DR: Comparison of these control methods with other approaches like EMS of advanced vehicle simulator (ADVISOR) software and non-optimized control strategies, demonstrate the superiority of optimized strategies regarding to equivalent energy consumption, energy efficiency, and state-of-charge (SOC) variation.
