TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis using 31 Vg sequences from 25 insect species reflects, in general, the current phylogenies of insects, suggesting that Vgs are still phylogenetically bound, although a divergence exists among them.

Tradeoff between triglyceride consumption and ovariole development in Plutella xylostella (L.) released in mixed-host environments

TL;DR: The mixed environment caused increased consumption of available energy resources (triglyceride) at the cost of retarding ovarian development and decreasing the amount of Vg produced, indicating that ovariole length varied significantly between female adults from different host environments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Research Progress on Oviposition-Related Genes in Insects

TL;DR: Through a literature review of a large number of studies, this review provides references for future research on oviposition-related genes in insects and the use of RNAi or CRISPR/Cas9 technology to verify the functions of oviponents and to prevent and control harmful insects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in follicular cells architecture during vitellogenin transport in the ovary of social Hymenoptera.

TL;DR: Actin distribution in follicular cells during vitellogenin transport to the oocyte in social Hymenoptera represented by bees Apis mellifera and Melipona quadrifasciata, the wasp Mischocyttarus cassununga and the ant Pachycondyla curvinodis is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evolution and functionalization of vitellogenin genes in the termite Reticulitermes speratus.

TL;DR: Results suggest that VG genes are functionalized after gene duplication during termite eusocial transition and that Vg4 is involved in nonreproductive roles in termites.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insight into the mechanism of action of scoparone inhibiting egg development of Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisduval.

TL;DR: In this article, Scoparone, isolated from Artemisia capillaris, exhibited potent oviposition inhibition activity against Tetranychus cinnabarinus (a crop-threatening mite pests with strong fecundity).

Mammalian subtilisins: The long-sought dibasic processing endoproteases

TL;DR: After many years of searching for the enzymes responsible for cleavage of mammalian proproteins and prohormones at sites comprised of pairs of basic amino acid residues (“dibasic sites”), the solution to this enigma of cell biology appears to be in sight.

Accumulation of yolk proteins in insect oocytes

TL;DR: In insects, accumulation of yolk, or vitellogenesis, is a heterosynthetic pro cess, in which an extraovarian tissue, the fat body, produces yolk protein precursors, and the role of endocytosis in yolk deposition in insect oocytes is implicated.
