TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis using 31 Vg sequences from 25 insect species reflects, in general, the current phylogenies of insects, suggesting that Vgs are still phylogenetically bound, although a divergence exists among them.

Molecular characterization of novel ADP-ribosyl cyclases from the sea urchin

TL;DR: New insights are provided into the molecular mechanisms of multifunctionality of this remarkable family of enzymes and suggest that the expression and activities of ARCs could be fine-tuned for production of specific calcium messengers during embryogenesis of S.purpuratus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuropeptide Bursicon Influences Reproductive Physiology in Tribolium Castaneum.

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of bursicon in the reproductive physiology of the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum, was investigated, and it was shown that the knockdown of the burs, pburs, or its receptor T.castaneum rickets (Tcrk) in 2-day pupae significantly downregulated the expression levels of Vitellogenin (Vg) genes in females 3-and 5-day post-adult emergence, leading to abnormal oocytes with limited Vg content.

Effects of indoxacarb on total protein, RNA, and DNA contents in the ovaries and fat bodies of Nilaparvata lugens Stål (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) adult females

TL;DR: There was a significant negative correlation between the total protein and RNA contents and the concentrations of indoxacarb, showing that the totalprotein and RNA were more sensitive to ind oxacarb than was the DNA, and that the changes in RNA contents in turn influence protein synthesis in both the ovaries and fat bodies.

Transcriptome analysis reveals TOR signalling-mediated plant flush shoots governing Diaphorina citri Kuwayama oviposition.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the fecundity and ovarian morphology of Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP) between young flush and mature leaves and found that flush shoot feeding activated the development of the psyllids ovary and therefore induced oviposition.

Mammalian subtilisins: The long-sought dibasic processing endoproteases

TL;DR: After many years of searching for the enzymes responsible for cleavage of mammalian proproteins and prohormones at sites comprised of pairs of basic amino acid residues (“dibasic sites”), the solution to this enigma of cell biology appears to be in sight.

Accumulation of yolk proteins in insect oocytes

TL;DR: In insects, accumulation of yolk, or vitellogenesis, is a heterosynthetic pro cess, in which an extraovarian tissue, the fat body, produces yolk protein precursors, and the role of endocytosis in yolk deposition in insect oocytes is implicated.
