TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis using 31 Vg sequences from 25 insect species reflects, in general, the current phylogenies of insects, suggesting that Vgs are still phylogenetically bound, although a divergence exists among them.

Two insulin receptors coordinate oogenesis and oviposition via two pathways in the green lacewing, Chrysopa pallens

TL;DR: The two CpInRs orchestrate oogenesis and oviposition via two signalling pathways to guarantee natural reproduction in the green lacewing, C. pallens, by the RNAi method.

Functional genomics of the stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans, reveals mechanisms underlying reproduction, host interactions, and novel targets for pest control

TL;DR: The combined sequencing, assembly, and curation of the male stable fly genome followed by RNA-seq and downstream analyses provide insights necessary to understand the biology of this important pest.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis leads to suppressed ovarian development in Spodoptera exigua

TL;DR: Results of this study suggest that PGs can stimulate oocyte development as autocrine/paracrine mediators of vitellogenesis and choriogenesis in insects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sublethal and Hormesis Effects of Clothianidin on the Black Cutworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

TL;DR: The results obtained in this study may assist in the development of optimized integrated pest management strategies, although the results require further study for corroboration under real cropping conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

New SNP markers of the honeybee vitellogenin gene (Vg) used for identification of subspecies Apis mellifera mellifera L.

TL;DR: The results of comparative analysis of honeybee Vg sequences show that there are 26 SNP sites that differentiate M and C evolutionary branches and can be used as markers in selective breeding, DNA-barcoding, and the creation of genetic passports for A. m.

Mammalian subtilisins: The long-sought dibasic processing endoproteases

TL;DR: After many years of searching for the enzymes responsible for cleavage of mammalian proproteins and prohormones at sites comprised of pairs of basic amino acid residues (“dibasic sites”), the solution to this enigma of cell biology appears to be in sight.
Journal ArticleDOI

Accumulation of yolk proteins in insect oocytes

TL;DR: In insects, accumulation of yolk, or vitellogenesis, is a heterosynthetic pro cess, in which an extraovarian tissue, the fat body, produces yolk protein precursors, and the role of endocytosis in yolk deposition in insect oocytes is implicated.
